It doesn't have the most lively name, but shooter Persian Gulf Soldiers is refreshing in a couple ways: it's made in Iran, and though it does feature military characters, they're going up against Somalian pirates instead of American military. There's also multiplayer.
The game is built on the excellent Unity Engine (which also powers Interstellar Marines, another good looking shooter). Graphically, it looks a bit muddy from the footage here, but seems to be more the fault of video compression or early work than anything else, if I'm not being too optimistic.
Games from this far east tend to stay close to home, but Persian Gulf Soldiers will be brought westward via Steam come autumn. However, it's "unclear to what extent the game will be localised."
