EA revealed at tonight's VGAs the new Command & Conquer Generals 2, and the rebranded BioWare Victory (formerly EA Victory, and Victory Games before that) has been named the developer. Sentiments about the original Generals game were mixed, thanks to gameplay tweaks that set it apart from the core series.
The new C&C Generals, due out some time in 2013, will utilize the Frostbite 2 engine, which recent EA titles like Battlefield 3 and NFS The Run also took advantage of. Based on the few screenshots we have now and the exclusive trailer shown at the VGAs tonight, some have speculated that Generals 2 will feature small unit counts and an emphasis on tactics.
In a recent interview, executive producer Jon Van Caneghem stated that the studio would be placing equal emphasis on multiplayer and single-player in Generals 2. Other than that, we haven't got a whole lot to go by.
