With LAN you can only play with people on the same network. However because it is within your own internal network, there is virtually no lag on either end. This makes it a perfect gaming environment especially with games that require quick re-action times, this is why LAN is a very big thing for LAN parties, tournaments and e-sports.

More importantly than the lag, you can go to a LAN party and play, despite lacking an internet connection.

Why do we have to enter our email if you can''t get replies? Anyways, I think that is bull crap. It is probably a media move to generate some excitement, then when the game releases they'll claim they got it in before launch when it was there all along.

I just read this and want to get a idea on what you guys think.

As explicit as you would have never imagined, EA’s Origin license agreement states that the program is free to act exactly as spyware and that the only way to opt out of that is not to install or use it at all.

According to the service’s EULA, by installing the client program the user gives EA permission to identify his computer, operating system, installed/uninstalled software/hardware, and use that information for marketing purposes while merrily sharing it with third party companies.

Origin is required mandatorily to play Battlefield 3 on the PC.

Bean007 I can offer some insight on that if you post in the forums. This isn't the place for it.

Wow ....
Guess I'll have to let my wallet talk for me on this one ... a BF game without LAN is just not going to be worth it. To many damn good LAN memories from the older BF games, and way too many bad Lag memories from the others ..

We just want LAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The battlefield series would not be around without it. MOH2010 lost so many people due to lack of LAN support.
