X2: Wolverine's Revenge User Reviews
I remember buying Wolverine comics in the late 1980's. That is when my love for the character started. He was very interesting to me. Adamantium steel covering his skeleton. Claws in his hands that he was born with that were also covered in the unbreakable metal. A healing factor and heightened senses that made him next to immortal. All of his comics were packed full of action. I even enjoyed playing the Wolverine game for the SNES, and the fighting games for the PS1.
And when the X-Men movies made their way to the big screen I was worried about who would portray my favorite X-Man. ...
+ Music & the story
+ Perfect for X-Men/Marvel fans
- Not the most original genre for a game based from a comic
- Graphics aren't so good
Like Enter the Matrix, X2 Wolverine's Revenge, to be fair, was created to tie in with the movie. Unlike Enter the Matrix, it's actually good and includes characters you can relate to.
The story follows back into Wolverine's (aka Logan) past (in the film, he occasionally has flash-backs to this), where William Stryker had created him back at Alkali Lake. Included in the game are some of Wolverine's biggest arch-rivals, Sabertooth, Juggernaut & Magneto, which you all get to fight in the game. But one cool touch is how you can activate Logan's mutant senses to find enemies lurking around, thus ...
The awesome graphics and sweet claws to slash your enemy to peices. The bad:
The later levels are long and hard. Your health bar regenerates to slowly.Summary:
This game is pretty good. It has its ups and downs. I would recommend this game to any true wolverine fan. However, it is very hard to beat and you might have to use cheat codes just to beat it the game. I'd have to say this game is one of my favorites because I always have liked wolverine and being able to play this game was just awesome. Cheat codes for this game are available so if ya need some help it beating it here are some of the cheat codes. at the New Game screen press. X,X,L,L,L,L,X,X,L,R,L,R then press new game. Once your game starts press start and on your pause screen near the ...
graphics fairly nice, though repetitiveThe bad:
camera angles whip around at the worst possible moments, especially while in combat. speaking of combat: I HATE the way you become locked in combat view as soon as you punch someone. wolverine is much more agile than this game portrays him to be. automatic feral rage sucks. levels are too vague at times. this may just be my lack of timing, but it seems as though the strike combos don't work on the pc version. I'm on strike level 4 and I have yet to see a strike move past level one. the button combos just don't work, the only thing that's responsive is the strike key, which produces ...
Heighten sense, Adamantium Claws & different costume choices. Strike mode is a nice eye candy for the hardcore Wolverine fansThe bad:
Controls for heighten sense & stealth mode, you have to hold button down instead of just one click activate/deactivate mode. Claw attacks on soldiers is too weak unless its in strike mode. Unable to bypass camera angles you've seen a thousand times. And you cannot save at any time until you pass level.Summary:
If you like Wolverine, You'll love this game.
You start out in the Weapon X lab and it gets intense from then on and doesn't let up, You constantly have to be on guard. Each level gets harder and harder until you get to the point of going insane.
Its a fun game but can be frustrating at times, It might not appeal to the non-wolverine fans, but the hardcore wolverine fans like myself love the game
This is my first and possibly only review so i hope you will forgive me. I have had this game a day and am completely blown away with the whole package.
I have been an X-Men fan and particularly Wolverine for about 20 years and had my reservations when i heard there was to be a game based on him but with an X2 connection but my fears were unfounded.
I have found this game to graphically stunning, the gameplay simple yet varied and most of all wolverine is his nasty Butt-kicking self in all his five foot three glory.
If you have even a passing interest in the X-Men then you have to buy this ...
