World Championship Rugby User Reviews
Its an official game so it has all the proper international competitions.
Players look very good.
Yoiu can knock the ref over so he lies on the floor for about 5 minutes
Not always realistic.
Thumbs ache after constantley bashing the buttons but apart from that not much
A good game to buy with fluid gameplay with an arcadey feel. Amusing to play and with challenge modes which include beating the allstars with every international team. This is very easy to start with when your England and Australia but when you get to namibia it can get rather tricky. Also special challenge matches where you can play the world cup final means you can be playing it for quite a while.
To finilize it is a very worthwhile buy that is not as expensive as some other games and it is probably the best rugby game to date.
Intuitive and effective gameplay that captures rugby, extra challenges and bonus matches keep it goingThe bad:
Commentary is monotonous and was quickly switched off, no practice mode, only England and Wales licensed.Summary:
The makers of PS1 classic Jonah Lomu Rugby are back with WCR, a rugby game openly aimed at arcade style gaming.
The developers have clearly aimed to do the basics right in this game, and achieve this superbly. The game is very easy to pick up, and the rucks, which have been confusing in most other PSX rugby incarnations, is made simple and easily understood here. This simplification has the added benefit of being "just" i.e. if you choose to go wide, get tackled and your forwards are later arriving at a ruck than theirs, then you lose the ball. Just like the real thing, actually.
