War Gods review
Unworthy of being a God
Arcade-perfect graphics & sound.The bad:
Slow gameplay and little variety. Unbalanced CPU AI. Doesn't have anything unique to set it apart from other titles.Summary:
A follow-up to the Mortal Kombat series, Midway tried to add a storyline & unique characters to this title to make it different, but looks are about all this game has going for it. The graphics are excellent compared to the arcade version, as are the sound. Controls are customizable and easy to learn too. Unfortunately it follows the same tired formula of button-mashing with some projectiles, a few combos, and unbalanced CPU AI-after 2 or 3 rounds it'll frustrate you to death, even on very easy skill.
The gameplay is rather slow for a fighting game, and the 3D movement doesn't add any real depth to the gameplay. At times the frame rate appears a little bit choppy as well.
The only reasons to buy this title are if you're a huge fan of this game or it you can get it cheap out of the bargain bin. If you want a decent fighter, stick with the likes of Mortal Kombat & Killer Instinct because this one looks like a pale imitator compared to these excellent series.
