Valkyrie Profile User Reviews
An extremely creative and original game! The characters are as deep as they are varied. The combat is exciting and engaging. The story? Prepare to be blown away. The voice acting is great, as far as video game voice acting goes (in other words, some is good, some makes you want to peel your skin off). The art and music are excellent, some of the best Enix work to date. Bonus points for style and general awesomeness for Arngrim's sword, one of the most impressive sights in video game history to date. The bad:
While the special attacks are impressive the first three or four times you see them, the other 3470980237498567237 times they play you'll want to hurl your Playstation into the nearest river. A lack of a way to skip them really makes long battles tedious. The story is good and the play fairly linear and straight forward with enough wiggle room to do what you like here and there, but the artificial time limit imposed feels at times like a strangle-hold on optional areas or items. Also concerning the story, if you were not told beforehand or if you did not investigate yourself, you could play the entire game without knowledge of the secret areas, characters, or the best ending, and be rewarded with a very disappointing and mediocre ending. The time constraints can also be put to blame here, as if you dilly-dally around to much, you will lose important characters or events entirely. The 2-D map system for dungeons and towns can be frustrating at times, and in some instances, can prevent the access of items in plain view entirely. No explination of the item system, or purchasing system can leave new players confused and perplexed at first, though this issue soon dissapates. The battle system, without proper explination, can also leave newer players confused, though brief experimentation can solve this issue as well.Summary:
I am reluctant to reveal too much about this game, because with proper exploration and careful navigation, it can prove to be one of the most rewarding and, frankly, exhausting gaming experiences you will likely have. It is in no way perfect, and can cause general degrees of frustration ranging from mild annoyance to severe and dangerous homocidal behavior. For example, in Lezard Valeth's tower, the big dungeon area of chapter 4 (last chapter of the first disk), the access to the big boss and the resolution of the story thus far lies in a circular teleportation disk on the floor, which take...
Great fightig system, innovative gameplay and story, a lot of characters, and good 2D prerendered graphics. The bad:
I did not like giving up my characters.Summary:
Well this is a good Enix RPG I must say. The story is very interesting Gods, demigods, and the end of the world. I loved the fighting system by dealing out multiple combos and stuff. One thing I did not enjoy was having to lose your characters. This an overall good RPG and I recommend checking it out.
Great graphics, creative innovative battle system, challenging, great gameplay, nice music, sound FX, voice collection. The bad:
Limited battles, short, too easy to waste time if you don't know what you're doing.Summary:
This is simply one of my favorite RPGs after thinking about it. I tried it over a suggestion from a friend, and found it surprisingly good. The story, though not as creative or in depth as I had expected, was rather nice, and the role you take on is really cool. I loved the gameplay, especially the battle system, in which the triangle, square, X, and O buttons all correspond to an assigned character. Also, I liked the fact that you could choose your difficulty level, which gives this game some replay value if you're willing to keep it around. The game boasts some nice music, and consists of...
Fun and easy battle system .Cool spell animations .Large variety of characters .Great story .Great voice acting .Cool characters .Good music and sound .The bad:
No steady rise in difficulty of bosses .Weapons and armor break too easy .Leveling up is a bit annoying .Getting best ending is very hard .The most powerful weapons are hard to get .Summary:
Overall a great playstation RPG .It becomes kinda annoying when they make you fight an easy boss then another easy boss then a hard boss then another easy boss .The difficulty level of the bosses doesn't increase at a fair rate .Finding good weapons is kinda hard too .Those are pretty much the only problems I have with the game .RPG fans should definately get this one .
Is really good for the battle system.I can hit the enemy with ' Purify Weird Soul ' and also the mages
are so great.Sound and graphic is great too.The sound
are combination of drums and violin, the graphic are 2D
and in dungeon the gameplay are change into Platform
but it doesn't bad.
Well,if we don't have any materialize point we must
wait until Sacred Phase. This is bad and maybe we will
kick out of dungeon.
Tri Ace are so good to make this game.
This is one of the most innovative games on the market. The thing I like most about the game was the battle system, it was fast paced yet stretgic it keeps you on your toes, not like FF games (which I am fan of) where the battle system is kind of slow, then you zone out and make stupid mistakes. The bad:
the worst is.... The Voice Acting, the only good actor was for Arngrim, most of you would disagree, but this is my review so shut up and read, the voice acting cut VP short of a 5Summary:
Great game for everyone, skilled are not (thanks to the adjustable difficulty). Pick one up and praise Enix.
