Unreal II User Reviews
Controls, weapons, enemies, graphics, funner than HaloThe bad:
too much like HaloSummary:
Well first off... yah the first level sucks but who cares. Play the rest of the game and you willl like it alot more than Halo(maybe)the graphics are worse than Halo's but are still really good. Controls are good with guns having an alternative fire. Shotgun has a flame shot extra, pistol has a charge attack, assault rifle has bouncing shots, grenade launcher has like 5 different attack forms, shock lance has power shot, ect.
overall i give it a 5.9 out of 5 ...
+ great graphics
+ several good weapons
+ some very good scripted events, just like Unreal 1
+ the worlds are well designed
+ some really good use of the Unreal engine effects, much better than Unreal Tournament IMO
- characters are bland
- your shipmates are essentially useless
- some levels are just too difficult
- No MULTIPLAYER?!?!
For those who loved Unreal 1 for its single player aspect, Unreal 2 will encompass some of the gameplay and action, but you don't get the same sense of being lost or alone as you did in Unreal.
Unreal 1 was a masterpiece for me because it combined excellent scripted elements and amazing environments to evoke a mysterious and awe inspiring adventure. You're as much exploring and fighting for a way to escape as you are just killing thiungs. Unreal II doesn't give you this impression, which is its biggest drawback: you don't get the same FEELING. However, the game is entertaining, features a...
A very original mode of multiplayer via XMP and an awesome single player game. The bad:
Graphics that had to be too heavily toned down for the Xbox as well as an annoyingly flaky combat system.Summary:
When I aquired this game the first thing I did was sit down for some XMP. This was an incredibly complex game mode if played correctly, and gave me more enjoyment than I have had in a long time on Xbox live. Infact, the last time I had that much fun in a multiplayer game I was playing Halo.
However, I found the single player game a little less than I would have expected, the gameplay itself was great but I could tell that the Xbox was struggling to put this game on my TV screen. When I caught my first bit of graphical lag from that aspect, I knew I was in for a real cricle jerk. That also wo...
Graphics, lip syncing, gameplay and maps. Extremely engaging levels.
Dated plot line, character rendering is not fluid.Summary:
I have always enjoyed the Unreal series of games. Both the tournaments and the first person story games have always impressed me. Unreal 2 has a lot of positive elements such as great graphics, sound, and most importantly gameplay. While not perfect, is is the perfect answer for those waiting for Halo 2. The game will not let the enthusist of first person shooters down. Poor multiplayer can make this a questionable replay after you have beaten the game. I hear the Xbox Live is great with this game however and that can make a significant difference. I bought this for under $40 and i...
the multiplayer is said to be good (thanks to a lot of modding apparently)The bad:
Unforgivable excuse for a single player game, 2 player co-op is just as bad but with someone to share the swearing. Seriously this is BADSummary:
If this game being reviewed in http:\\www.somethingawful.com is not enough warning let confirm it for you: this game seriously sucks (and this is from a guy that kind of liked "spawn").
Just picture this: halo 2 gets delayed again, suddenly a new shooter with xbox-live multiplayer vehicle halo like action comes along and is available now so the game is an awesome hit, and the single player rocks, right? WRONG (in your best shwarzennegger like voice).
Unreal 2 is aparently compossed of antihalo materia, is exactly like halo except is exactly like someone dropped a gravity fecal bomb that suck...
-all the cool stuff from the PC version and some added stuff
-loading time is about 20 to 25 seconds
-the controlls feal clunky and hard to manage
Although this game can keep you playing for hours, i found that the long loading times, the bland graphics and repetative environments slowed down my experiance with this game. Of course all the same weapons from the PC version are here, but seem to hard to handle with the xbox controller. The multiplayer is fun for maybe 30 min then you just want to quit. Although there are better games to choose from in the entire xbox librabry, this game was fun while it lasted. Although unreal one was set to become the "Quake killer" it seams that Unreal 2 for xbox was trying to become somewhat of a "ha...
