TimeSplitters User Reviews
The box cover for TimeSplitters
TimeSplitters is the first in the TimeSplitters series, released October 26, 2000. The game revolves around the concept of travelling through time, with each level in the story mode occurring in a specified year between 1935 and 2035, with characters and weapons from each respective time period. The game features a story mode, arcade mode, unlockable challenge mode, and map maker.
All up, there are 64 playable characters that the user must unlock by completing Story missions. These missions are short, sweet and simple: Retreive the Bag, and escape through...
Unbelievable multiplayer. By far, the best multiplayer game for the Playstation 2 console. The game provides a non-violent alternative way of game play, allowing young kids to enjoy the game. Controls are easy to remember and gameplay is breathtaking and magnificent. The bad:
Storyline disappoints me and I found the missions extremely boring to play alone on. Mapmaker can be confusing at times and gameplay begins to get boring after usage increases. Lastly, I felt that more complex weapons would be nice for the game and also, more maps and game modes would truly make the game feel finished.Summary:
Timesplitters 2 is truly a magnificent piece of gaming artwork. It's worth every dollar and cent you offer for the game and it's surprisingly cheap. The gameplay satisfies every player's need. However, the missions can be extremely boring at times and gameplay can begin to become boring after playing. More weapons would be a nice addition to the game along with more maps and game modes. Overall, this game was a true find for me, for only ten bucks, buy your copy of Timesplitters 2 today!
Everything is sweet, multiplayer is sooo awesome! The bad:
map maker could be a little bigger for free space!Summary:
Ok I admit this game looked kinda crappy on the cover and back of the box, but I found it forsale, used for $12 cdn. So I had to Buy it! and after about 15 minutes of playing it, I was trying to figure out why someone returned this game! It was so awesome, I love the multiplayer modes, the weapons are cool, sweet characters, challenges are fun, mapmaker is a great idea, so you can make your own custmized maps to play in multiplayer, but the mapmaker could be a little bigger for free space! BAG TAG is my favorite multiplayer game, Or setting the deathmatch too 1000 and see how fast i can ki...
Gameplay is fun, cheats you earn are really funnyThe bad:
it's too short, and really easy :-/Summary:
This was one of the 1st games released on PS2, and it was definitely the best. The levels are pretty fun, and the multiplayer is as well. The extra challenges are the best, though. With games such as "shoot 100 zombies" or "thrown bricks through all the windows in this house" or "Protect elvis from ducks" (????), the gameplay keeps being fun.
The bad part is the easiness of the levels in the normal game. They really, truly just aren't that hard. The enemies don't need much to take down, the levels are small, and your health and guns are powerful. I think the most times i retried a leve...
A lot of people are going to be very angry with this review, I know, but please do not flame my review.
What is this game?
TimeSplitters is a first person shooting game. You can play each of the three modes with up to 4 people, not including a huge amount of bots.
There really is no story to TimeSplitters, so I really can't give it a review for that.
Why does everyone hate the control scheme so much? I found absolutely nothing wrong with it. The aiming scheme is dead on, you can strafe, look around, the controls are easy.

Maps, weapons, opponentsThe bad:
Controls, controls, controls.Summary:
Anyone who has played Perfect Dark or Goldeneye for the N64 will feel welcome here, even down to the weapon sounds (push-pull, click-click, reload, that quick.) What's missing is the wonderfully precise control that Perfect Dark and Goldeneye permit with two controllers, one for each hand. Auto-aiming is a dry hump in such an otherwise great game. Buy it, but don't expect to find gaming Nirvana here.
