2. Introduction [itouto]

Welcome to my guide! Do you need urgent money on The Sims 2: Pets for PS2? Maybe
you want to find out how to get a puppy or kitten, or make a more exciting pet
by unlocking new fur colours and fashion? Are you bored of the normal old food
recipes? Maybe you want to live in the Town Square? Look no further ? you?ve
come to the right place! This guide will tell you how to do all that and more,
because I?ve collected helpful hints, cheats and tips for The Sims 2: Pets for
PS2, and put them into one great guide!

3. The Cheat Gnome (and how to use it =P) [tcgahtui]

The cheat gnome is a, well, gnome, that can get you instant cash, pet points,
and more. First, you have to enter a code to bring up the gnome, then more codes
to unlock cheats. Then, press X on your cheat gnome, select what you want, and
BAM! That can make one rich, happy, Sim family. THESE WILL NOT WORK IN CLASSIC

Obviously, you?ll be wanting the codes to unlock this stuff. Here they are.

Unlock the cheat gnome:

When playing, make sure you are not near anything else (otherwise you might
select something and ruin the code), and press these buttons together in a

L1, L1, R1, X, X, UP

Make sure you do it fast! There should be a strange noise. Go outside your house
(front garden). There should be a strange gnome there. This is the cheat gnome!
Enter this first, otherwise the following cheats won?t work.

Get pet points:

Make sure you are not near anything, once again. Then press:

Do it quickly. Did you hear the noise again? Click on your cheat gnome,
hopefully it should say ?Give Sim Pet Points?. Select this. You should get 9,999
pet Points each time you do it!

Advance 6 hours:

If you did it quickly enough, you should now be able to select ?Advance 6 Hours?
on your gnome, as well as ?Give Sim Pet Points?. If you select ?Advance 6 Hours?
time will go forward 6 hours, but your Sim?s mood will stay as it was 6 hours.
Perfect if you?re in a good mood and you don?t want to get miserable again while
you wait for your carpool to come pick you up and take you to work.

Get simoleons:

And now, for the one you?ve all been waiting for (I?m guessing)! Press:

If you did it quickly, hopefully you will now also be able to select ?Give Sim
Simoleons? from your cheat gnome ? as many times as you like!
(?Yes! Now I can finally get the Fitzroy Dreamers? Rock Pool at $8,500 without
having to worry about being so skint I can?t get a decent meal!!!?)

Town Square Upgrade:

This SHOULD give you an option on the cheat gnome to fully upgrade all the shops
in the Town Square.

Have fun with you and your pet?s life-in-luxury!

4. Pets: Cheats and Tips [pcat]

Don?t worry, I hear you.

?How the heck can you have cheats and tips for pets?!?

Well, sometimes you may get a little bored of the boring old fur colours,
patterns and fashions. Sometimes you can?t wait to unlock all the cool stuff.
Well, if you want it all early, all you have to do is read on.

First of all, you can make cats and dogs to look like other animals. I have only
heard of foxes and wolves, and also arctic wolves. I?ve searched, but I can only
find stuff like ?Make the body look like a wolf shape and then use the special
fur colours!? for the wolves and arctic wolves. You might want to play around
and see what you can come up with. However, I found a brilliant guide for making
a look-alike fox ? I?ve even tried it myself. Here it is.

When you are creating a family, choose the cat ? the breed doesn?t matter. Use
the fur colour code to unlock the ?Deep Red? cat colour. (This code is found
later on in this guide, so don?t worry.) Choose ?Head? then go to where you can
change the shape of the snout. Find the longest snout available. Its face will
now resemble a fox somewhat. Make sure the ears are as large as you can get
them. Then, go back to the place where you can change its fur and colours.
Change the ?Extra Fur? option to #2. Next,. go to ?Fur Markings? and choose the
first one. Change that to the narrow strip on its chest. Make its colour pure
white. Go to the second choice of fur markings and make its legs all black.
Finally, choose the option that makes both of the ears covered in the back with
the colour black. You now have a look-alike fox!

Cool, isn?t it?

Second, you might of noticed there is no mini daschund dog breed in the game.
Well, when you are creating a family, press square to bring up the unlock code
box. Enter this:

You should have a look-alike mini daschund!

Thirdly, you?ll be wanting the deep red fur colour for the fox. And you might be
wanting a neon green dog or maybe a dog with a star pattern. Here are all the
codes for fur colours & patterns (enter the correct one ? for cats or dogs ?
when making a cat or dog in the Create-A-Family menu to have that fur pattern or
colour unlocked and able to use), and the collars (enter these when buying stuff
for your pet in the salon or when you dress your pet when you first make it).

FINALLY, if you get abducted by aliens, you get a special pet treat. To get
abducted by aliens, stargaze into a telescope for a LONG time. That?s about it.
When you return, if you select ?Feed Pet Treat? when socialising with your
dog/cat, you will see you can give them a treat called ?Alien?. This makes an
area near their mouths glowing green for a while! (It doesn?t harm your pets in
any way. It actually improves their mood.)

5. Special Food Recipes [sfr]

Special food recipes are recipes that different effects on your Sims. Usually,
something will steam off ?special recipes?. These are things that will steam

Sparkles ? if your Sim eats a food that sparkles, it will improve their mood.
Also, your Sim will have sparkles coming from their head a while after they?ve
finished the food, and when the sparkles disappear, it shows the effect of the
food (making your Sim happy) has worn off now. This is the same for all things
that steam off.

Pink Hearts ? pink hearts don?t seem to do anything, but I?ve noticed they seem
to come off expensive foods, and foods that REALLY fill up your hunger and
energy. They seem to keep the hunger bar up for longer.

Black Hearts ? black heart foods seem to make your Sim annoyed, and the Sim
might not do very well in Social, as they seem to get minus friendship points
more that plus friendship points when they have black hearts from their head.
That?s all they seem to do.

Green Smoke ? sometimes, you will prepare/make a food, and green smoke will come
off it. I think this is a glitch, as it has the same effect as sparkles, and
sparkles will usually come from your head afterwards. However, if you have left
a food for a long time, and green smoke starts to appear, don?t eat it. This is
indicating the food has gone off, and will make your Sim throw up. This happens
to ALL foods after a while, even sparkly/pink heart foods.

Sounds interesting, right? Well, here?s a few recipes for you ? but I?m not
going to tell you whether they make hearts, sparkles, or smoke! It?s more fun to
have a guess, and see if you were right or not. For some recipes, you need the
most expensive fridge, and for some, you need different fish tanks and fruit

6. Living In The Town Square [litts]

This isn?t actually living in the Town Square, this is staying there for as long
as you like. You still have your lot where a house is usually built; you can?t
get rid of it no matter what you do. Which is quite helpful, actually, because
your house is the only place you can save your game, so at the town square,
whenever you?re finished playing, go home to save.

Also, if you go home to save or something, all the items you placed in the Town
Square will go back in your inventory, so you will have to place them back in
the Town Square next time you play.

Here?s how to do it.

Make your family, then pick a cheap lot and buy it, them enter it. Enter the
cheat for the cheat gnome, the cheat for getting simoleons and the cheat for the
pet points, and raise the cheat & pet points levels (these cheats are in
section 3 of this guide). Then go to the object catalogue and purchase and place
down these items; Garden Swing, Bed (any sort. I recommend a Belmont twin bed
though) , Fridge (most expensive one recommended), Counter (any, but once again,
expensive is better), Stove (you know the drill?), Hot Springs, and Trampoline.
Now go to the Family Inventory, press square for grab mode, then select your
items and put each one in the inventory by pressing square.
Now go to the Town Square and purchase stuff for your pets ? bed, food bowl,
scratch post, chew toy, etc. depending on if you have a cat and/or dog. Now go
to your inventory and place the pet things wherever you like, and put the Garden
Swings and Hot Springs in the middle of the Town Square. Place everything else
towards the back EXCEPT your bed, stove, and fridge. When you need to sleep, get
the bed out of your inventory and put it right in front of your Sim. Then go out
of your inventory and get in the bed IMMEDIATELY, otherwise the police will take
it away before you even get in it. Same when you use the stove and fridge ? do
it IMMEDIATELY. Don?t bother putting these things back in your inventory, the
police will do it for you when they fine you. (They use a weird laser-gun thing
? watch it, it?s cool!)
Don?t worry about the fines ? they?re only $5 each and you still have the cheat
gnome here ? it?s by the toilets at the front.

Have fun in the Town Square!

7. Other FAQs [ofaqs]

Want to know the answer to a Sims 2: Pets PS2 question? It may be here. If it
isn?t, e-mail me.

Q: I?m bored of the starting movie. Is there a different one?
A: Yes! During the ?EA Games? logo, press X, CIRCLE, TRIANGLE quickly for a
different movie!

Q: Can you get Sim babies in this game?
A: No.

Q: Can you get puppies and kittens?
A: Yes, but like in the real world, the parents have to be different genders.
You need a dog house (even if your pet?s a cat) to breed. Both parents can be
your own cats or dogs, or you could invite someone who owns a different-gendered
pet over. Select your pet, then ?Try For Offspring With?? and choose the other
pet. Hopefully, the pets will go into the dog house together, later they will
come out, and a kitten or puppy (depending on whether you bred dogs or cats)
will come down in a hot-air balloon. You can interact with it, and rename it.

Q: My pet doesn?t seem to want to have a kitten/puppy. Is there something wrong
with my game?
A: No ? your pet is just not in a good mood. Check which motives are low, fill
them, then try again.

Q: Is there a limit to the amount of Sims and pets I can have in my family?
A: Yes, you can only have 6 in total, with at least one Sim.

Q: Can you get a two- or even three-storey house?
A: Nope, you can only have 1 level.

Q: Can you play multiplayer on this game?
A: No, this is single-player only.

Q: Can you control what your pets do?
A: No. You can only control your Sims.

Q: Do your Sims and pets age and die?
A: No, they stay alive forever. (Weird.)

Thank you for reading my guide. I hope you have fun playing the Sims 2: Pets for
PS2, and I hope this guide helped!
