This game was my first Tales game, and i fell immediately in love with it. It satisfied all of my gaming needs, and on the gamecube! I'm proud to say that this game is definately my all time favorite game!
This game, of course, is based off of its story-line that it provides. I give this the highest score that i can. The story line was completely interesting, and will keep you connected throughout the whole game. One moment you'll think one thing, and the next you'll be completely confused. One game I've always found myself falling in love with is Tales Of Symphonia. Easily one of the better Gamecube games (which doesn't say much, as if I recall correctly, the Gamecube had a lot of shovelware - just saying) and the most accessible and the easiest to find Tales game (excluding Tales Of Vesperia) out of the bunch, mostly due to either small quantities of it (looking at a few PSP ones) or due to Japan-only release (I lost count of how many there are in that department), so typically, the only Tales games a typical gamer would've experienced is Symphonia and Vesperia.. maybe Abyss...

Tales Of Symphonia is the Namco's game that was released a year before it's anniversary (with Abyss marking the Tales' series anniversary). This RPG left a deep mark on the Game Cube; as a game with high rankings and a game that is almost impossible to forget about. The story and the gameplay (as the most important elements) are sweet. These will get you hooked with the game in no time.

• An amazing RPG game that allows you to level characters and change basically everything about them. This includes their weapons, clothes, armor, accessories, attacks, skills, and so much more.
• A brilliant and deep storyline that is always changing, twisting, and turning. It will play with your emotions, morals, and beliefs. It will make you sad, happy, excited, and even angry at times. There are even some parts of the game where you are able to advertently or inadvertently change the outcome of the game.
• You can use 8 different unique and fun characters throughout the game. This includes sword users (Lloyd, Kratos, Zelos), magic users (Genis, Raine), a summoner (Sheena), an axe wielder (Presea), a flying ring user (Colette), and even a character that uses his legs as weapons (Regal). As the player, you can choose to fight and walk around the world with any of these characters. They all have different (and sometimes overlapping) storylines that unfold as the game goes on.
• There are 4 modes of transportation on the world map(s). Walking/running, riding Lloyd's dog-like pet around, navigating the ocean on a boat, and flying in the sky on a hovercraft. You will use each method of transportation at different times in the game.
• Over 250 different enemies that you can fight in the game, which include bosses.
• Tons of different battle maps, which depend on where you run into enemies in levels and on the world map. Battling itself is so fun and cool.
• Tons of bosses! Big plus. They are all very hard (a few in particular are very hard).
• Two large worlds that you travel to and from: Sylverant and Tethe' Alla.
• Many weapons, clothes, armors, accessories, and attacks for each character. There are many cool cities, towns, and items to use and collect.
• TOS takes over 70 hours to beat one time through. This is an amazing game length, around 1-2 months to get through once. To do and get everything, you need to play the game through 2-3 times, which means 140-210 hours of great fun! Big big plus. The game is well worth your money (very cheap now) and will consume a lot of your time.
• Two game discs, meaning a very large game.
• Very colorful, bright game. Many beautiful and colorful levels and battle maps.
• Great cel-shaded character graphics and 3D graphics
• Amazing anime cutscenes at some points in the game.
• The ability to walk into most houses and stores, which are all greatly detailed.
• Many different stats that keep track of your characters, items you collect, monsters you fight, and the game in general.
• You can learn and cook tons of different recipes that all help your characters in different ways.
• All the music in the game is great. Money has a very important purpose throughout the entire game.
• You can talk with most of the people that dwell throughout both worlds.
• The synopsis menu is amazing. To first point out, it helps you figure out where to go next at many times in the game. In addition, you can go to it and read what you did in every event/mission in the game at any time. It helps to piece together the story, and also just provides a great read. It helps you remember all that you have done in the game. The menu also shows you where on the map it occurred, which is so helpful and great.
• What the heck is with those purple things that roam the map? The people who made this game clearly did not think those things though. They should have just made those purple things into one of the monsters you fight in the battle if you run into them, which would have made sense.
• The camera gets kind of wonky at times on the world map(s). You can get very confused when it does this.
• You can buy new weapons and armor in every town and city, but only the weapons are useful to buy at every opportunity they arrive. The clothes, armors, and accessories are not worth buying in every city and town because their stats are not that different.
• Each character's best weapon is unlocked too late in the game. You have no time to use them before the game is over. That makes collecting them through the hunt, which takes nearly the entire game, almost pointless.
• Some of the main characters should have been developed more than they were.
• Some z-skits and scenes are really long and involve tons of reading. While all the reading is great, at times it is a bit much.
• Unison attacks are so impossible to do. I do not think I was able to ever use one of these in the game. From what I have read, going through all the trouble to make one of these attacks happen is almost not worth it because they do not do a heck of a lot of damage.
• I wish that characters were able to get and use all of their attacks. The whole T and S types thing was a pain in the butt at times because you cannot use some characters attacks depending on what type you are.
• Titles are useless. Cooking food is pretty useless too.
• Escaping battles are almost too easy.
• When you enter a second game (or further), stat tracking is near impossible. It would have been great if they had the game 1 stats, and also stats for game 2, and so on. I really hated the game combined stats when you played more than one game.
There are not a lot of extra things to point out that I haven't already. This is such an amazing game, and it quickly rose to be one of my favorite games ever. Almost everything about it is great. It is a great RPG game, one of my favorites (though I have not played too many) and will offer you more than 70 hours of fun to beat the game once (if you are not rushing to get through it). If you want to try for a 100% complete game, you will need at least two times to beat the game, which could mean over 140+ hours of fun. How amazing is that? That's like two months of nonstop fun! The Gamecube isn't particularly known for drowning in RPGs, so seeing Namco bring its Tales Of series to the Cube with Symphonia is a wonderful sight. The question is whether Tales can deliver a solid gaming experience or will it fail to fill the void?
Graphically the game adopts a manga-styled look. Expert use of cel shading techniques along with a wonderful art style creates quite a unique presentation that not only looks awesome but helps it stand out from the crowd.

Visuals: 7.0 It's not that bad but it's nothing stellar either. The characters are nicely cel-shaded and the backgrounds are pretty but it's a disappointing package if you were expecting something that flexed some graphical muscle. Especially from a team as talented as Namco. Anime cutscenes are nice but there aren't enough of them(I had to play through 50 hours just to see the first).
