Super Mario All Stars User Reviews

9.2

Great compilation of four...well, three classic games

The good:

4 games in one.

NES games get revamped.

Opportunity to play the real Super Mario Brothers 2 if you don't live in Japan (it's called Lost Levels in this game).

When you lose all your lives in any of the 4 games in this, you must start at the beginning of the whole world, but at least you can save unlike in the NES versions.

The bad:

Too addictive.

Summary:

Lastability: 9/10.

Let's see. You have 4 games which can be absurdly medium, and they're pretty long. Then you have dying phase where you lose all your hard-earned lives and start at the beginning of the World you died in (lost all lives in 1-4, start again at 1-1). These games are addictive and fairly hard so you'll be playing these for a long time.

Graphics: 9.5/10.

It's a SNES game, so it'd have to be 2-D (with the exclusion of Super Mario RPG). Pretty good job with editing the graphics of the NES games before putting them on the NES.

Sound: 9/10.

Slightly repetitive, but very, very catchy.

Super Mario All Stars

The good:

Came with the SNES in most cases.
4 games in one.

The bad:

nothing really.

Summary:

Super Mario All Stars was my first game that i experienced on the Super Nintendo as i got it with my console. It features four games, Mario bros. 1,2,3 and the lost levels. Mario Bros 1,2 and 3 were features on the NES but the graphics and stuff has been upgraded and as for the lost levels, that never came out but it was nice playing it for a while, a prefer the 3 originals though. The graphics on the game are all good and have been upgraded from the NES version and so has the sound. It's still a great deal of fun to play around with Mario and his friends.

Overall i'd say this is one of the ...

4 Classics In One

The good:

Has Super Mario Bros. 3, one of the best Mario games there is

Has Super Mario Bros. 2, a diffferent, but fun Mario game

Has Super Mario Bros., another fun Mario game

Has The Lost Levels, which we never got to experience on the NES version, which is also a fun game

The bad:

Uh....not much?

Summary:

Well, this is a cool game. It's basically 4 games in 1, and it's awesome. Especially considering the fact that you get to play The Lost Levels, which most of you probably never got to experience on the NES, and The Lost Levels is a great game, as I was able to experience by playing it on this game (Mario All-Stars.) Yep. It's definitely a great game, and it's well worth playing. What more do ya want me to say? There's not much more to say than that, so I'll just add a little more to this review, which is what I'm typing right now, so it can get accepted and posted. Yep. Definite classic.

Super Mario All Stars

The good:

Super Mario All Stars features four awesome classic NES games: Super Mario Brothers, Super Mario Brothers The Lost Levels, Super Mario Brothers 2, and Super Mario Brothers 3. All very good NES games and they were all upgraded graphic wise into a SNES version. Let me point out the good of this game:

Characters- using characters such as Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, etc, was great. The characters were awesome and so were the bosses. Mostly Bowser, but still very original and classic.

Also, each character was different and that strengths/weaknesses. For example: Mario had different abilities than Luigi. Mario has a average jump that decreases a bit when he is carrying an item. Luigi on the other hand, jumps the highest out of all the characters and jumps farther than Mario. Though, when he has an item, his jumping ability decreases a lot.

That's what I loved the most about this game, the characters. The fact that each one had it's own unique abilities was cool.

Music- how can you not love the music in this game? the music was awesome. There wasn't one time in this game where I got bored of the music and that's the truth.

Graphics- the graphics were upgraded from NES to SNES. Great change and the games themselves looked much more improved and a whole lot clearer.

Items- I loved using the items in this game. The stars, mushrooms, shells, etc. The items were great and each one gave you an advantage except the poison mushroom.

Controls- the controls were extremely basic, but reliable. What I mean is that the controls were easy to use and there wasn't much difficulty involved with it.

The bad:

Not enough items. I found that this game didn't have enough items. Just seemed a little bored after a while because not many items to choose from.

I got a little bored when I beat every little game in this whole collection of games. Don't know why, but it just didn't have the same spark as other classic mario games such as Super Mario world and Mario kart.

Summary:

Great solid game and the awesome thing about it was that there were 4 games in one. If your a big time mario fan and love playing their games, be sure to check this game out since this can start you on the right foot when you want to become a true Mario gamer.
