What are the first things that come into your mind when you think of the horror genre? Zombies? Fixed cameras? Slow movement? Well, none of these things are in Midway's action-horror game, The Suffering. The game is a pure action game and is the best one you can currently buy.
In The Suffering, you play as a muscle-bound inmate named Torque. He has put behind bars in Abbott State Penitentiary for murdering his wife and two sons. But he can't actually remember what really happened concerning the crime. After the first few minutes, the prison gets attacked by creepy monsters and most of th...
Where to start? The game is simply an action oriented, fun blast em 'up, though its not humans you're killing- its some of the best monster character designs ever. From the needle galore of the mainliner, to the gruesomeness of Torque, the main character, monster forms, they consistently surprise you with their design. Good animation and graphics, though this is the department where the suffering is not perfect. The bad:
Not much, though there are some very noticeable glitches- The main one in my view being against the last boss, when i consistently got trapped on a piece of fallen gate. Since this game is action oriented, it may not be enjoyed by all people.(Good you read the review, yes?)Summary:
This game is the best i have played for a while- the endless gore, good main character (is he crazy, is he not?), and as already the character design is second to none. The game also has many nice effects, both graphical and affecting the A.I. For example, getting in some close range death with a boom stick or when deciding that a mainliner would look better with a fire axe in its back, the gore sprays onto torque, adding to the potential evilness of the character. The best A.I effect is when you shoot a body part from a Slayer(a type of sharp seeing, agile monster with blades for arms and ...
.Bloody as hell
.Starts to become Predictable
.Cutscenes(If thats what you wanna call them)
.To much blood and to much cursing
.Not HARD at all
Let me lay it down to anyone who has heard of the game and may be thinking about purchasing/renting this game. Fist off its not a game for the weak at heart. This is one of the nasty's game I had ever played. Nearly ever minute or so you will be covered in more in more blood from your enemys. Cursing usually never bothers me just like blood and gore doesnt bother me. But this game used it so damn much it really just started getting on my nerv.
Ok first I highly suggest that if you really want to play this game either borrow it from a friend or rent it for $6 at Blockbuster. You can easily be...
Atmospheric, CRAZY attention to detail, awesome plot, best voice-acting in any game, ever. The bad:
Kinda easy, kinda short, kinda weak enemy AI at timesSummary:
Let me start out by saying I love this game. I've beaten it some 7 times now, and I'm rolling through it again. It's moody, atmospheric, tense, and action packed. For those who want a break from the "average" horror game like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, this is the game for you.
The premise of the game is, you play as Torque, a prison inmate sentenced to die at Abbott Correctional Facility, a fictional prison on the fictional island of Carnate, off the coast of Maryland. You don't remember a thing about your crime other than that it happened and you were convicted of it -- whether or not y...
*Extremely scary and disturbing
*A multitude of horrifying enemies with they're own themes of death
*Resident evil aint got shit on this game
*Great voice acting
*12 weapons to choose from
*only one thing... needs a few more weaponsSummary:
This game was so good, it kept me on my seat for hours upon hours. The combat in this game may not top the matrix, but it sure as hell nailed that same 30 seconds of fun halo did. You may think that is a bad thing, but no, this game is remarkably fun from exploring the odd buildings, enemies and past of carnate down to the horrific history of executions here.
Many games have tried to make an origional horror/survival game. But none other than Resident evil have come this close. But personally, I prefer this over cleche zombies. Who wants to shoot something that you have seen more than...
+ Lots of Blood and Gore
+ Good Graphics
+ Spooky, Immersive Atmosphere
+ Awesome Prison Setting
+ Good Story, With 3 Different Endings
+ Fun Gameplay
+ Cool, Creepy Enemies
+ Some Very Unique Characters
- Can Get Slightly RepetitiveSummary:
Gameplay: Very fun to play. Fast paced shooting with some boss fights and puzzles to mix it up. You can switch from first and third person views on the fly. All the blood and gore make killing enemies very satisfying. Each enemy has their own unique attacks and you have to use a different strategy for each of them. There's people along the way you can either help, or if you're an evil bastard, kill along the way, and this has an effect on which ending you get. If you play for too long at a time it can get slightly repetitive though.
Graphics: Very good. The art direction is fantastic! The i...
