Welcome to my thirteenth guide without a co-author.

I orginally played the Game Gear version of this game when I was younger.
Although I have been writing games from my childhood, I did not think that I
would be writing for this game.  I decided to write this guide when the SMS FAQ
Completion Project started up again as I thought this would be a quick game to
write for.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy using this guide and playing this game as much as I
have enjoyed writing this guide and playing this game.

Doctor Octopus is planning to conquer the world.  With this, he has formed the
Sinister Six to accomplish his goal.  Only one man stands in their way...

...a SPIDERman!

1) Make sure that the close-range enemies come to you.

2) Do not run head-first into any situation, or you may end up being hurt from

4) You have 2 Continues.  Do not be afraid to take risks to get further ahead.

5) Level 4 should be tackled by staying away from ground as much as possible.

Wait for the Brawler enemy to come to you and attack him.  Walking up to him
will get you hurt.  Head to the left and grab the web re-fill off the crate.
Head to the left until you are on top of a stack of two crates, with another
crate on the right.  Another Brawler will run to the crates, so jump over him
(and a mine), then face the left to take care of him when he gets in range.
Jump on the fence on the right and get to the web re-fill on the roof, while
this also allows you to dodge a group of blue missiles.

Run to the right and jump across to the next roof.  Fall off the right side of
the roof you are now on and land on a fence.  Head to the right until you come
to a red building.  Climb the building to get on the roof and walk to the right
side.  You should spot a Shooter Enemy that can be jumped after he shoots a
bullet, but be careful of the Blue Missiles.

Once the Shooter Enemy is dead, jump on the fence on the right, followed by
walking on the roof of the grey building and ending with draopping down on a
fence to the right of the grey building.  Jump onto the fence on the right,
then continue heading right until you encounter a Shooter Enemy above you and
some Electricity from the above power lines.  Kill the Shooter Enemy for a
green bar recharge of health, then continue to the right until you have to jump
on or over a crate.

You should see a Shooter Enemy and a Brawler Enemy on this crate.  Start by
jumping and using your webbing just after a bullet has past above you to take
care of the Shooter Enemy, then jump to the right.  Turn around to kill the
Brawler Enemy, then keep heading to the right.  Make sure that you stop running
each time you spot some Electricity from the power lines, or you will be hurt.

When you come up to some crates with 2 Shooter Enemies standing on them, wait
until the top one fires, then jump and web him.  Repeat this for the other
Shooter Enemy on the crates, then keep heading to the right.  You will
encounter another couple of Shooter Enemies, but one of them will be on the
ground.  Duck and wait until a bullet goes past your head, then fire webbing at
the bottom Shooter Enemy, then repeat the jump and attack done earlier to take
care of the the final Shooter Enemy.  Run to the right to enter the second part
of this level.

Jump across and pick up the web refill.  This will generally regain a green bar
of health.  Walk down to the left until you can not go any further, then fall
down to the right.  You should see a shooter enemy below.  He generally seems
to fire 2 or 3 bullets at a time, so wait until he fires 3 bullets before
dropping down and killing him.

Walk to the right until you get to a crate next to a wall.  Jump up the three
green ledges above you and then face towards the left.  After the shooter enemy
has shot two bullets, jump up and fire some webbing at him, then face the right
and jump on the ledge above you.  Walk to the right until you get to some
crates, then jump on them while firing some webbing at the shooter enemy on one
of the higher crates.  Head to the right until you get to the stack of three
crates, then jump past the gun turret and land on a stack of two crates.

Jump to the right and fire some webbing to kill the shooter enemy on the green
ledge.  Be careful not to land on the open electric plug socket, as it can
do damage.  Jump over it (if required) and drop down the hole on the right.
After the shooter enemy on the left has fired a bullet, run and fall as far to
the left as possible (shooting some webbing to kill the shooter enemy), until
you land on a green ledge.  Head to the left and jump on the ledge with the
webbing to top-up your webbing reserves, then fall back on the previous ledge.

Look at the red lazers below your position.  Wait until one of them has just
past below you, then run to the left until you get to a wall.  Hit the blue,
bottom part of the wall twice to break through to the other side.  Jump on top
of the stack of crates to the left, then fall down the left side to land on a
green ledge.  Jump to the ledge above and on the left (web swing to the ledge,
if you can not jump on it) and then run and grab the key.

Get to the left side of this ledge and fall down the side until you land on
another green ledge.  Drop down the right side after a red lazer just goes past
your position and keep heading down until you get to the last green ledge.
After the shooter enemy as fired 3 bullets, run to the right and jump over a
broken plug socket.  Kill the shooter enemy in front of the door and then walk
to the door.  Press "Up" to fight Electro.

Head to the right, jumping over crates and other obsticles until you get to
Electro.  Attack the switch to his right to start the battle and gain a green
bar of health back.  Head to the top of the machine in the background to find
a spare web re-fill.

Electro will circle around you, firing lightning bolts at Spiderman from time
to time.  You can easily dodge these.  Either fire webbing at Electro when he
is more or less inline with you on either side, or run up to Electro when he is
in he same sort of position

It is possible to complete this level with some webbing left, which will help
the start of the next level.

With the ability to shoot webbing, you should take out the Knife-thrower Enemy
before he has a chance to deplete your health.  Without the web-shooting
ability, jump up to him and attack him to attempt to keep some health.

Either way, run to the right of the screen and walk down the first ladder you
come to.  You need to drop down to the left, while being careful not to get hit
by a Sewage Droplet to the left od the ladder and the Rat on the ledge you have
to land on.  The screen is horrid for this, so just take a guess when you
should drop to the bottom ledge and run to the right.  Jump over the crates and
be careful not to land on the Unstable Box on the other side of the crates.

When you land, quickly get off the crate you are on as you may be shot by a
Shooter Enemy.  Wait for a gap in his shooting before jumping up and taking
care of him.  Continue on your way to the right and climb three sets of
ladders.  There is another Shooter Enemy on the ground level, if you wish to
beat him, but I would not recommend it.

When you have climbed all three sets of ladders, head to the right and grab the
rope going from the top to the bottom.  Climb up and go to the right, taking
care of the Shooter Enemy along the way.  At the end of this ledge, there is
some dynamite that you should grab.  Head back to the rope and climb down.

When you get to the bottom of the rope, climb up and jump on the first ledge on
the right.  Jump over to the next ledge and run to the right until you reach
the floor in a room with a lot of chains that you can climb on.  Climb to the
top-right corner and jump onto the pipe on the left.

Follow the pipe tunnel around until you come to an intersection where a Shooter
Enemy is standing by.  Wait for a gap between his shooting before jumping up
and killing him to gain one green health bar.  Head to the right and follow
this path until you automatically place the dynamite down, then head back to
the red plunger to automatically detonate the explosives.  Head through the
newly formed path to reach the Sandman.

Sandman will come from the ground and either re-enter ground or attack you.
His attack will either be a ranged blast of sand or a series of quick punches.
The best chance to take him out is to move where he is appearing from and get a
couple of hits before he is either out of reach or starts to disappear.  If you
can not reach him before he can act, stay away and wait until he disappears.
The best places that you could defeat him is either at your starting position
or in a long ledge to the right, near the top of the screen.

Run to the right, ducking to avoid the bullets until the Shooter Enemy is
almost within reach.  Stay in the crouching position until a bullet goes over
you, then run up to him and hit him.  Climb up the white machine on the right
until the Flying Missile shoots to one side.  Drop to the floor and follow the
path to the right, ducking when a bullet comes at you.  Do the same wait and
pounce technique when you are near another Shooter Enemy.

After the second Shooter Enemy has been dealt with, climb up the ladder on the
left.  When you are near the top, slowly edge up the top until the Flying Bomb
is lured away.  Run to the right and jump over the Feather Bomb that you will
see floating down to prevent that being a problem.  Climb down the ladder on
the left and wait for a gap between the shots being fired by the Shooter Enemy
before crouching at the bottom of the ladder.

Wait and pounce on this Shooter Enemy like you did with the last two, then head
to the right.  Climb halfway up the right-most ladder and then jump onto the
ledge above.  If you fail, try to jump a bit higher up the ladder.  This is to
avoid getting hit by the Flying Bomb up here.  Head to the door on the right
and press "up" to enter the next part of the Level.

Climb up the ladder on the left and then walk to the right.  When the flying
bomb moves off the right side of the screen, jump up to remove this threat,
then jump onto the ledge on the left.  Walk to the left until you fall onto
another ledge, then fall off the right and grab onto the white equipment in the
middle of the room.  Wait until the shooter enemy has finished firing three
bullets, then get off the white machine and beat him up.

Jump on the ledge above you and run to the left.  Jump to the left when the
flying bomb is on the other side of the screen to you, then continue left until
you get to a ladder.  Climb up the ladder and jump over the wall on your left.
drop down all of the ledges here to the bottom.  Walk to the left and jump when
you can to dodge a flying bomb.  Run to the left until you are just below the
shooter enemy, giving enough room to allow you to jump up and kill him after he
has fired a bullet.  Once you have dealt with him, jump up and grab the night-
vision goggles.

Walk to the right until you come to a white machine next to a wall (you need to
fall from the ledge you are on to get here).  Climb up the white machine to
give yourself enough height to reach the bottom ledge.  Get to the ladder on
the right.  From the ladder, jump on the ledge on the right and jump over the
feather bombs on at a time.  At the end of this ledge is a gap that you want to
jump over to reach the ledge on the right.  Run to the end of this ledge to get
to the next part of the level.

Head to the right and grab on to the ladder.  Inch your way to the top until
the flying bomb is activated and flies above you, then head to the bottom.
Head to the right and jump up the first set of ledges.  Head down to the bottom
ledge on the right and you should see a shooter enemy.  Wait until he has fired
some shots, then drop down and beat him up, then head back to the start of this
part of the level.

From the start, head to the left and jump over the gap (if the flying bomb has
been lured away).  Run to the left and take care of the shooter enemy at the
end of the ledge (ducking to avoid his attack, when required), then drop off
the end of this ledge.  Walk to the right of the new ledge you are on and wait
until the flying bomb is away from the gap infront of you before dropping down
it.

Run to the left until you get to the exit and spot the shooter enemy above the
exit.  Position yourself to be able to jump up and kill him after he has taken
a shot.  When ready, do the quick jump and kill move to regain a green health
bar, then head to the exit of this part of the level.

Jump on the ledge above and slowly climb the ladder slowly to lure the Flying
Bomb away.  Jump to the right and run to the next ladder, jumping over the
Feather Bomb.  Fall down the ladder when the Flying Bomb is away from the
ladder to lure it away without taking damage (hopefully).  Run to the right,
while crouching to avoid the bullets, and take care of the Shooter Enemy here.

Once the Shooter Enemy has been dealt with, run to the right (jumping over the
Feather Bomb).  When you get to the end, jump up the ledges and fall down the
other side of the wall.  Slowly climb the ladder on the right to lure the
Flying Bomb away.  Jump on the top ledge and fall down the ladder on the right.
Jump up two of the ledges on the right, then run to the right to deal with the
Shooter Enemy.  Get below where the Shooter Enemy is to reach the exit of this
part of the Level.

Mysterio will appear from nowhere and either attack or disappear.  He has two
attacks, a close-range attack consisting of a few punches or a ranged attack
that throws something at you.

I recommend jumping to the ledge above and to the right of your starting
position and standing in the middle of that ledge.  If he appears on this
ledge, face him and gets as many attacks in before he can attack you or
disappear.  Keep this up until he falls over and allows you to regain a green
health bar.

Climb up the lamp post before you get hit by a Hidden Enemy.  Jump to the right
and attach to the wall.  crawl to the other side and jump on the roof to your
right.  Run to the right and jump over the first fence and the crates on the
floor.  Jump over another fence and crates, then head to the right.

When you get to a telephone pole, climb it before you get hit by another Hidden
Enemy.  Jump across the telephone poles, then crawl to the right of the
building you will come to.  Jump on the fence on the right, then the roof and
finally run to the right to reach the exit of this part of the level.

The Vulture will fly above you, dropping Falling Missiles on you.  These can be
dodged (when required) by jumping out of their way.  When he lands, he will
swoop at a 45 degree angle.  This should help you predict where he will land
and you can get to him and throw in a quick hit.  If he has landed before you
reach him, it is better to let him be as he is faster and has more reach than
your melee attack.  I find it hard to defeat this guy without loosng health and
would rank him as the hardest enemy to fight.

Run to the right and take care of the Bomb-Thrower Enemy on a tree branch.
Keep heading to the right, until you run into another Bomb-Thrower Enemy, who
should be dealt with for a green bar of health.  Jump on the tree stump on the
left, then jump to the ledge on the left to get te web re-fill.  Run to the
right.

When you can not run any further, jump on the bridge and kill the Bomb-Thrower
Enemy standing in your way.  Continue to the right until you come to another
bridge, killing two Bomb Thrower Enemies along the way (one of which will net
you a green health recharge).  Kill the Bomb-Thrower Enemy on the bridge, then
head to the right to fight the Hobgoblin.

There are 3 Web re-fills in this level.  The first one is above your starting
position, accessable from the ledges on the right.  The second one is to the
left of your starting position.  the last web re-fill is in the bottom-right
corner of the screen.  I recommend going to the re-fill locations in the order


The Hobgoblin will circle around you, similar to Electro.  He will throw his
trademark Pumpkin Bombs at you or shoot a lazer from his glider.  Either way,
you should be able to dodge them with little trouble.  Again, he will stop
circling you from time to time to allow a chance to get a hit in or use your
web attack.  Basically, treat this battle like you would treat Electro.

Wait for a Brawler Enemy to run up to you, then hit him.  Jump over the mine in
front of you, then run to the right.  You will reach a fence with a Shooter
Enemy inline with the top of it.  You should have some webbing left over from
the fight with the Hobgoblin, so use the jump and attack technique after a
bullet goes over your head.

Once the Shooter Enemy is dealt with, keep heading to the right.  When you are
directly underneath some rope, stop to let 2 Blue Missiles fly overhead.
Run to the right and jump over a third Blue Missle to prevent yourself from
loosing any lives.  You should come up to a fence with a Knife-Thrower Enemy on
the other side.  Jump over to his side and take care of him before he starts
throwing a bunch of knives at you, then run to the right while dodging the
feather bombs and a mine on the ground.

When you get to a fence, jump on it quickly to avoid the Hidden Enemy before he
hits you.  Jump to the lamp post and then over to the right.  Again, jump on
the fence to avoid another Hidden Enemy.  Run and jump across the roofs on the
left and drop down at the end.  Jump over the mine and continue heading to the
right.  Jump on the fence and grab the webbing to recharge your health by one
green bar.

Drop down and fire your web attack at a Knife-Thrower Enemy to prevent any
damage from him.  Run to the right until you reach a Bomb-Thrower Enemy, who
should be dealt with quickly.  Jump on the fence and head to the right, until
you spot some Blue Missiles come towards you.  You should be able to jump in
between the bottom two Missiles to avoid any damage.  If not, you do not need
to worry and heading to the right (making sure to dodge a Mine) will get you to
the easiest boss in the game.

I found Doctor Octopus the easiest boss in the game.  A real let-down compared
to the difficulty throughout the final stages beforehand,  I may get some
arguments against this, so I might as well explain the strategy to defeat this
boss.

In the highly likely event that you have some webbing that can be used to
attack Doctor Octopus, head to the left of the screen to meet Doctor Octopus.
Jump on one of the ledges used to get you to the top of the screen and wait for
Doctor Octopus to jump to the top.  Each time he jumps up, jump and fire some
webbing at him.

When you run out of webbing, jump on the top ledge and position yourself so
that Doctor Octopus will jump up in front of you and can easily be hit without
giving him a chance to do any damage.  If positioned in the right place, his
tenticles will never hit you when he is below you, so you should be able to
defeat him with little or no trouble.

03)                                 Enemies                              [SM03]

Brawler
ッッッッッッッ
They have black hair and wearing a green shirt with blue jeans.  They need to
be close to hit you, so the best way to deal with them is to force them into
your reach, not the other way around.

Mine
ッッッッ
A noticable white star with lights.  Best to avoid them.

Blue Missiles
ッッッッッッッッッッッッッ
Blue Missiles that travel through the are to hit you.  Recommend dodging them
or trying to get under/over them, if possible.

Shooter
ッッッッッッッ
A person with red hair, yellow shirt and green trousers.  They shoot from a
long distance and you can get hit without seeing this enemy.  You can duck the
bullets or predict when you can jump him to get close.  Thankfully, they will
not move, so you can take care of them as soon as they are in reach.  The best
way to deal with these enemies when you are on the same level as them is to
crouch and pounce when a bullet moves overhead.

Electricity
ッッッッッッッッッッッ
Blue and White line that can be encountered near power lines, broken plug
sockets or broken lightbulbs.  The later two will only be encounter in the
second part of Level 1.  Best to avoid it.

Turret
ッッッッッッ
A yellow box with a gun attached to the top, facing the left.  They fire a red
lazer and should be dodged when possible.  They only fire when you are near the
Turret, so you can run away from them to stop the Turret from hitting you when
you require a run on the same level as the Turret.

Knife-Thrower
ッッッッッッッッッッッッッ
A person wearing a blue hat, white shirt and blue trousers.  They need to be
close enough to throw the knives but far enough away to be out of your reach.
Web them if possible, or jump over their throws and try to get a hit in.
I hate these guys, especially since it is easier to defeat some bosses without
loosing any health in comparison to these people.

Sewage Droplet

A green water droplet.  Be careful in the sewers, as the droplets could fall
anywhere.

Rat
ッッッ
A normal-looking grey rat.  Runs from side to side, jumping over gaps in the
floors or breakable boxes.  Will jump up to bite you, so it is better to jump
out of their way.

Unstable Boxes
ッッッッッッッッッッッッッッ
Looks like a normal box, but has no colour to it.  Rats will jump over it.

Flying Bomb
ッッッッッッッッッッッ
Looks like a butterfly, until you get close to it.  When you are close to it,
the Bomb turns into a Blue Missle, so you need to lure it to get rid of the
potential damage.

Feather Bomb
ッッッッッッッッッッッッ
Looks like a feather until you come into it's range.  It will turn into a glass
bottle and fall down to the ground, FAST!

Hidden
ッッッッッッ
These guys will appear from the ground with a Rocket Launcher and fire the
weapon at you.  Best thing to do is dodge, as you can not kill them.

Falling Missiles
ッッッッッッッッッッッッッッッッ
White missiles that fall to the ground.  Just dodge them.

Red Missiles
ッッッッッッッッッッッッ
A Red Missile with white wings.  Just ignore them, as they are general not in
your way.

Bomb-Thrower
ッッッッッッッッッッッッ
A grey-haired person with a red shirt and green trousers.  Will either throw
the Bombs at you or hit you with them close up.  Like the Shooter Enemies, they
will not move.
