eh it's fun in small doses

I've always wanted to say I'm a Sonic The Hedgehog fan, but I stop myself short of it partially because I don't want to associate with... those people, but mostly because I realize that I'm just not that big on the series. One of Sonic's biggest mainstays is the fact that he's the dude with the tude. His edgy cool guy look and fast paced gameplay served as a great contrast to the family friendly mildly obese plumber we all know and love, and combined with all the sports and grittier action games, he helped Sega really get the edge on Nintendo. But let's be honest – the games just aren't tha...

Cuz we're supersonic racing

Forget the original game, guys – THIS is where the Sonic brand lived up to the hype generated from all those “Genesis does what Nintendon't” ads. Whereas the first game was nothing but marketing hype for this cool and edgy animal mascot that starred in an ultimately mediocre platformer, Sonic Team took what worked, scrapped or at least cut down on what didn't work, and crafted a series of levels that showed off exactly what this cool dude with the tude could do! Sonic The Hedgehog 2 takes a mediocre game and turns it into a great game. Bit of a shame that no game in the series has even touc...

Speed 2: Sonic Control

Sega's mascot made a pretty good impression in his first game on the Master System, so I was eager to see what the speedy blue hedgehog could manage in his second outing on the system.

The game's plot revolves around Tails this time, who has been kidnapped by Robotnik and it's up to Sonic to race through more zones beating the stuffing out of badniks to rescue him, along with the other unfortunate citizens who got nabbed by the evil doctor as well. It's a bit more personal than the first game's simple "beat bad guy" thing which is nice, although after the backstory there's little to advance ...

Improvement on the original, with some different setbacks

If you're read my review on the first Sonic The Hedgehog game, there isn't much to say that hasn't been said there. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is a true sequel, where it takes the core gameplay of the original, and improves it, as well as adding in some stuff, and removing the blemishes of the original. Yeah, that's how all sequels should be, though when I say sequels, I mean the second and possibly third games in a series, because when you get to game #4, you may want to change it up significantly, yet keep it familiar to some extent so fans don't *bleep*ing piss and moan about change and boycot...

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - A Feisar review

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Mega Drive / Sega Genesis.
This game is the second game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series for the Sega Mega Drive.
The game was a popular one, just like the original for the Master System and the Mega Drive.
The game is obviously a Sonic the Hedgehog game, and allows you to take control of Sonic and Tails in your quest to defeat Dr. Eggman. So basically, the usual.

The graphics of the game and background are very beautiful for a Mega Drive game, and are very similar to the first Sonic the Hedgehog game for the Mega Drive.
Crystal blues, deep greens, electrical ye...

Yay!!! It's an original Sonic game!!!

The good:

Most everything about it!

The bad:

Frustrating for people like me who suck at video games.

Errr... Well, this game is awesome. It just is. What!? You don't believe me!? Fool. There is nothing wrong with this game. I've just never beat it. I suck at platformers... I like to play as Tails. Yeah, I'd like to sell your soul to get this game. That would be fun. May the darkness take your soul if you don't like this game. Indeed... This game is better than Sonic 1. I can get past the fourth level on this one. Yes, I am well aware of the fact that I'm not good at this sort of video game. Hmmm... I require more characters... Indeed... Quite so... Dang it, who came up with that annoying m...
