Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut User Reviews

this is one of those “you had to be there” kind of games

Summary:

The worst part about Sonic Adventure is that it was considered a milestone when it was first released. For one thing, HOLY SHIT SONIC'S IN 3D!!! Another thing is that it shows off just how much of a juggernaut the Dreamcast was compared to the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 1. Lastly, it did show off some genuinely impressive looking moments for 1999 – in fact, that bit where Sonic's running along wooden bridges while dolphins jump over still stands as a pretty damn good looking moment in video gaming history. Then there's that cutscene which depicted the city getting flooded by evil plasma-so...

Sonic Adventure DX: Directors Cut

The good:

*8 characters to play as
*Can unlock 12 game gear Sonic games
*New mission mode, with 60 fun tasks
*Tunes rock

The bad:

*Shocking graphics for Cube
*Mouth movements are crap
*WAAAAY to short
*10 stages is crud in comparison to SA2B's 31 stages

Summary:

With the 8 characters, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big, E-102, Super Sonic and Metal Sonic, SADX is great fun in many ways. Rushing through Emerald Coast's calm, sparkling shores to running down the massive building in Speed Highway. SADX is great for people who love to play as different characters with their own adventure. SADX also features 12 Sonic game gear games to unlock, including Sonic the hedgehog, Sonic Drift, Sonic Chaos and many more! Also an update from the Dreamcast version, SADX includes an all new mission mode, where you must you 6 of the 8 characters to complete tasks, wit...

sonic losing his touch

The good:

-get to play as a lot of characters and have different level designs

The bad:

-graphics
-sounds and soundtrack
-voice acting can be bad
-game is too short
-bosses too easy
-level design sucks
-and mouths don't mouth the words, just jobble up and down
-Chao garden is low in quality

Summary:

Story: Each character pretty much has the same story as SA2B. Except for Big and the robot (forget his name)The robot is the only one that has a good story, the rest suck.
Audio:The sounds when something breaks is bad and the soundtrack is horrible compared to SA2B.
Graphics:The graphics are really bad, nuff' said.
Level design: The level design is really horrible, the only thing I like is the levels are different for each character.
Environments: The environments really suck, they didn't put much effort to the environments, as they are not that big compared to the past Sonic games and I mean p...

A bad conversion of a game which was never brilliant to begin with...

The good:

The unlockable games...in some versions of the game

The bad:

Almost everything else.

Summary:

When a game is ported to a more powerful console, it usually ends up being better overall somehow, doesn't it? Well, here, Sonic and friends have defied this logic.

While Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is better than Sonic Adventure 2, which was a good game to begin with. Sonic Adventure: Director's Cut is worse than Sonic Adventure, which was originally not exactly brilliant anyway.

The game takes us back to when Sonic first appeared on the first fully polygon-compatible console by SEGA - the DreamCast. "Maybe they should have left him as a Sprite for a bit longer instead of wasting five hours or...

A good 3D Sonic game

The good:

It's Sonic

Unlockable Sonic Game Gear games

Good graphics

Some new characters (like Big and Gamma)

Some fun levels

The bad:

The Chao system is overated.

The camera isn't always right.

Summary:

Difficulty: Hard

This was the first Sonic game to get my hands on shortly after I got my GameCube. This is is better than I thought it be. In this game depending on what character you use you get a different story and different level path. Big's story mode is weird though. In his story mode you have to catch his pet Froggy in each level which I haven't beatin all of yet. Depending on how many emblems you have you unlock certain Game Gear games. Some of them are actually not too bad for Game Gear games in my opinion.

If you like Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast then you should like it here too...

Sonic Adventure 1 for GameCube

The good:

Good gameplay
Play as 6 characters
Good story
Mini-games
Chao Garden
Unlock Game-Gear Games

The bad:

Camera is bad at times
A lot of glitches

Summary:

Sonic Adventure DX was originally for the Dreamcast as Sonic Adventure 1. Now GameCubers who missed out on the original (like me) can experience this fantastic title.

In my opinion, this is much better than Sonic Adventure 2. The story, gameplay, and everything is just better than Sonic Adventure 2.

When you first start the game, you can only play as Sonic. As you go throughout the game, you encounter other characters. Once you do, you can play as them. Some examples are Tails and Knuckles.

Instead of going from level to level, there's actually 3 adventure fields, all containing levels. You ha...
