The game has the same setting as the first game; it is set during the Battle of Berlin in 1945 however the game has an altered universe. It takes place during the final days of World War II and follows an American Office of Strategic Services officer as they fight against the Nazi's and stop the German V-2 rocket program. Russia's Red Army is also invading during the same time period.
It was developed by Rebellion Developments and published by them also for the PC. However, 505 Games published the game on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. Ubisoft also published the game in Japan.
 Game Play
Sniper Elite V2 is set during World War II and uses the appropriate era weapons; the player has a variety of weapons at their disposal including sniper rifles, silenced pistols, sub-machine guns and also grenades which can be used to make Trapmines. Players have some choice in how this wish to approach situations and deal with combat however, stealth options are emphasized.
The main feature of the game and the series is the sniping; the game uses realistic ballistics where bullets are affected by a range of factors including wind strength and gravity. Having the protagonist hold his breath when lining up a shot will increase his accuracy. A sniper rifle is used in a telescopic sight view which gives the player greater accuracy, the other weapons in the game use the standard third person view.
Enemies in the game will spawn into the world when the player is close enough and has passed a specific trigger point on the map; they will also freeze in place if the player walks too far away from them. They cannot be “wounded” and the other AI will no longer go to help them. Enemies can be marked to highlight their position with a white outline, it also displays their information so that the player can make an escape or an approach.
This game sees the addition of the X-Ray Kill Cam which activates when the player makes a difficult shot; it follows the bullet in slow motion as it reaches it's target and penetrates their body. The path of the bullet is followed through the body and the the Kill Cam displays the damage the shot has done to the targets organs and bones.
Online multiplayer is supported as co-op play with several different modes. There is a wave survival mode called Kill Tally where two players fight the oncoming waves of enemies in a closed environment with infinite weapons and explosives; the players are competing for the highest kill count however they must still work together in order to survive. There is also the Bombing Run mode which is missions based where the two players must repair a truck to escape in before the area is bombed. The last co-op mode is Overwatch where one player takes on the role of a sniper and is covering the other who is armed with short range firearms.
The missions from the single player game may also be played as co-op with another player however the Wii U version of the game does not contain any multiplayer or co-op modes.
