Siege of Avalon: Chapter 1 User Reviews
Amazing quality for a downloadable game, good as many CD CRPG titles. The bad:
Being downloadable means no voice actors, big movies, or big library of music.Summary:
The is a big story divided into six parts, called Chapters. Chapter 1 is free, but be sure to get it from their site at http://www.siege-of-avalon.com/ because they constantly update it and the mirrors do not keep current. Additional Chapters are just US$9.95 each -- less expensive if you buy the subscription.
It is a traditional medieval fantasy Role Playing Game, but with a refreshing focus on story and character development. Each Chapter is its own stand-alone game, but when you play them in order you are playing out a pretty big epic adventure. It is a pretty interesting concept.
Great story, well written, imersive, with a good interface. The bad:
Some minor bugs. Haven't run into any game-breakers. Yet.Summary:
If you loved the Ultima VII's, you owe it to yourself to download this. I've been trying a lot of the demos of games I thought looked intruiging. Deus Ex, eh; Giant: Citizen Kabuto, bleh. If you like Baldur's Gate, but wish that the story was a bit better fleshed out, this is for you.
