Ratchet & Clank User Reviews
The first Ratchet and Clank game in the franchise is one I kind of have a weird relationship with. I like it, but not as much as I did when I first played through it. It lead to a huge disappointment when I played it about 4 and a bit years ago, but now, I have a clearer state of mind going for me, so I can at least be a lot fairer on this game than when I first wrote the review nearly 5 years ago.
I won’t go too detailed with the story, so here are the schematics – Clank is rejected from the factory, so he’s shoved out of the factory on a distant planet. He takes an infobot with him and tak...
"Hey Ted, what can we do now that we ditched that dragon?"
"Well, maybe we should make another franchise based on an animal."
"What can we do with this animal? Make him jump some platforms?"
"Get real! The kids today don't just want platforms! They want guns and explosions with their platforming games! Did you not play Jet Force Gemini!?"
"Sorry boss. Hey, wait, I got an idea! What if we took a lombax and gave him a bunch of weapons? On top of that, he can pilot ships with ease! And he has a robot backpack that can help him solve puzzles, jump long crevasses with his helicopter blades and gentl...
-Great music and sound
-Lots to offer
-Good sized levels
-Pretty good length for the first game
-Very satisfying and addicting, for a while
-The additional features are cool
-Usually not very challenging
-TONS of glitches (not necessarily bad for the game, but for the developers)
-The voices aren't so good
-Gets pretty boring once you've completed it
When the game Ratchet and Clank first hit the market, lot's of action/platform and sci-fi fans hastily ran to the stores. Is this game all it's cracked up to be? It wasn't what I expected, but I still enjoyed it. Who doesn't love a good platforming adventure with lots of combat in it?
Graphics: 9.9 -- I'm sure you all know this game is popular for it's beautiful and matchless visuals. Believe me, this game looks even better in person than in some magazine or gameplay trailer. The character models are some of the best I've ever seen on a PS2. They are all so smooth and clean. Their ap...
Ratchet & Clank is an action packed adventure, containing so much interaction and activeness. The game starts off on a blackwater (I think thats right) planet, but moves on and meets a mini robot named Clank. Put together by circumstance they rocket from planet to planet, using weapons and gadgets to make sure Ultimate Supreme Executive Chairman Drek doesn't destroy every planet in the galaxy for his own selfish money wants. Playing this game for 30 minutes has a 90% guarantee it'll be a habit of playing. The bad:
The ONLY thing that upsets me is the change of voice from R&C 1 - 2. That's it. Nothin' more to say!Summary:
Overall, at least rent this game for 24 hours to expirience one of Insomniac's best platformers ever made! It won't cost you very much, as you'll get lots of unforgetful memories and funny moments that will last a lifetime! Oh, and all the weapons are pretty good, apart from one of them!
music that never gets boring, insane amounts of level variety, enough weapons to supply an army, strategical thinking a must, an ending boss that makes my top 10 list in terms of difficulty, natural controls, fun puzzles, replay value added by unlockables, good voice acting, humorous cut scenes, graphics with a funky flavorThe bad:
no upgrades available for weapons until the game has been completed, check points are only usable upon death (if you must turn off your PS2, expect to restart from your ships landing point), having to watch a unneccessarily long scripted sequence everytime your ship takes off or lands...a minor complaints I suppose but I don't have any major ones!Summary:
Like a magnificent pheonix, the platforming genre has burst from the ashes of its fallen ancestors, full of more energy and spirit than ever before! Otherwise known as Ratchet & Clank, this pheonix is packed with a thrilling mix of nostalgia and Insomniac's originality. The specific strategies needed to defeat each boss will remind gamers of Link's battles with the baddies of Hyrule. Even random enemies will often be best dispatched through the cunning use of environmental elements, like crates and corners, and a huge array of unique weaponry. Ratchet gains a new gadget nearly every level, ...
Lots of weapons
Extremely easy last boss (if you have the RYNO)
After saving a level you start back at your ship not where you were
Bolts. You have to collect so many it drives me crazy!!
The worlds are well designed, with creative enemies, and gadgets for their own specific situation. There is allot of backtracking, and this can annoy you. You get very creative wepons such as the Morph- O -Ray which turns enemies into chickens. Even play as Clank who has an army of evil robots waiting to be commanded!
Travel throughout the gaklaxy and try to thwart the evil Ultimate Supreme Executive Chariman Drek and his plan to destroy the entire galaxy for his own selfish needs. GOOD LUCK!
