R: Racing Evolution User Reviews
Namco are no strangers to the racing scene (when they're not busy refusing to localize the latest Tales game) so when they decided to bring us more high speed fun in the form of R:Racing then it is natural to expect great things.
This game appears to opt for a more arcade style of racing than the serious exterior would let on. There's no massive consequence for scraping along the barriers other than the expected drop in speed, powersliding around corners is highly encouraged in places and nothing is really stopping you from trying to bash rivals off the road in revenge for getting passed ea...
Loads of Cars
Could do with more tracks
Story mode a little short
Perhaps a little samey after a while
Namco brings racing to the current gens, but how does it compare to other racing games out there?
Graphically the game is a visual treat. The cars are stunning. The movies are brilliant too, capturing Rena and Gina beautifully. The tracks aren't quite as excellent, but they're good anyway.
Sounds are a mixed affair. I just can't get into any of the music used, but the sounds, especially the pit team comments, are great.
So how does the game play? Initially the controls are a little awkward, and you'll find yourself driving in the dirt more often than on the track at first. This is especially t...
The music was great. Its a fun game but not for serious gamers. My girlfriend enjoys it because it's easy and fun. Another thing I liked was the viberation effects on the pads which made the rally tracks much more realistic...but my wrist was in pain afterwards. The bad:
Doesn't measure up to other racing games. It would be perfect for ages of 9-15...maybe females who don't usually play such games. Real life is about two girl racers.Summary:
You only have two choices of camera angle. Forget about fast forwarding or slow mo on the replay. The graphics where....uncomfortable...and confusing. The crowd, barriers, and other things added so much dilution that could do the race properly. Maybe that had to do with the lack of camera angles. If I knew what the game was like, I wouldn't have bought it.
gameplay, controls, music, replay value, cars, cars, cars,The bad:
too easy, grafix, unrealistic sound clipsSummary:
well, i guess its time for another review. a new year with all new games to tear to shreads. R:Racer is a little on the easy side. I beat it in 3 days. the grafix are a little bit pixelated still, nothing that is TOO much for the Game Cube to handle. Just a production team who didnt want to take the extra time to make it look good. Well here's one for ya! You lazy bastards! The engines while sounding good still sound MiDi-ish. I need raw power. I wanna hear sour roarin and some real tires squealin. This game was decent game play tho. I readily enjoyed the plot line which could have been b...
