Planescape: Torment User Reviews
“What can change the nature of a man?” This is a quote that I won’t be forgetting any time soon as it’s a question that I have recently spent the good part of 60 hours trying to answer. If you ask me, it was time well spent. After almost fifteen years of playing RPGs I can safely say that I’ve played most of the goodies. I find myself constantly comparing modern games to those of the past and just wishing games were made like they used to be. However, occasionally, I travel back in time to play the gems that have somehow avoided my gaming consoles. Planescape: Torement is one such game tha...
Incredible plot twists - YOU are one of the reasons you can't remember what happened.
Still uses the familiar but ever illogical and poorly patched AD&D 2nd edition system, but at least they twisted it enough here to make it really really interesting.Summary:
"What can change the nature of a man?"
Why are you asked this question?
Of what significance is that?
What is the correct answer?
Is this the greatest of your torments?
Or is this the least?
That is all for you to find out...
Or is it for you to decide...?
Mazes, riddles, decisions, monsters, treasures, your diary tattooed to your back - everything you need for a great RPG.
In the beginning you don't get to choose who you are, not even your name. You are The Nameless One, but you got plenty of scars, enough to make you wonder how long you have lived, or how many times you have died. No name, no m...
Once again a review from my own site. Enjoy!
Planescape is a truly underrated setting for RPG games. This game must put the Planescape universe right back on the map. We all know the Sword Coast from the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights games. Well, meet a whole new world where anything is possible! And I really mean anything. Do not expect hack & slash action from this RPG, you will get greatly disappointed. But hack & slash players can crawl back to their precious Diablo 2 or the like, because the true RPG gamer picks this one up! Without regrets. If you ...
almost everthing. mostly the story and character interactionThe bad:
kinda short. a few bugs (patch fixes them). ending is somewhat disapointingSummary:
This is one of my favorite games. If u want a deep, story based rpg, this is it. If u want action, this isn't the game for u, since a good deal of the game consists of text and story. Also, just so that u know, the game favors mages (or at least high intelligence and wisdom) so u might wanna play the game as one.
Original and unique style of play(You are immortal)
You Change your style of play throughout the game
The slowdown bug is EXTREMELY annoying but there is a patchSummary:
I havent played that many rpgs but i know that this should be how theye are done.Gorgueoues Spell effects and isometric graphics add to the humour and originality of this superb game that sucks you in on the day you buy and sucks you out a month later when you have completed it 3 times!
Thats right,3 times. The 3 classes in planescape torment are interchangable throughout the game so you can decide to be a mage, thief or fighter any time you want!Another excellent point of this amazing game is the character involvement, every character seems to have personal attributes and fights can occur due ...
Planescape: Torment is based on AD&D Planescape multiverse. Built with the same engine as the classic Baldur's Gate but with a story much more compelling, this game will suck hours and hours of your time, and will have you hooked to your computer trying to - not to save the world from destruction - but to find the peace of mind and body of the main character, an immortal that goes by the name of 'Nameless One'. With excellent graphics and sounds, and with its do-what-you-like style of play, this is definitely one of the best CRPGs out there.
