Midgard

The realm closest to a fantasy-inspired setting of Earth. Populated by humans, elves, beasts, and far more unsavory beings like the Undead or the occasional demon summoned for sinister purposes. All games in the Valkyrie Profile series take place largely in this world. Midgard is imagined as a large continent bearing witness to several kingdoms and dynasties which have rose and fallen over the centuries. Major kingdoms include Crell Monferaigne, Villnore, Artolia, and Dipan.

From Valhalla, the Aesir keep vigil over Midgard. The Aesir may be goaded into taking extreme action against denizens of Midgard, sometimes even against an entire kingdom (as was the case of Dipan), should they deem the transgression of mortals too severe to go unpunished.
