Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath follows the adventures of a bounty hunter named Stranger as he pursues and captures dangerous outlaws in exchange for money; the money is very important, Stranger is apparently very ill and requires a complex surgery which is expensive. Stranger must earn more money by collecting bounties so that he can have his surgery.
This is the fourth game in the Oddworld Series and is an Xbox exclusive title. A HD remake of the game was released in 2011 for a variety of platforms.
The game is focused on two main mechanics, locating outlaws and capturing them. Exploring the area is important to progress through the game; this includes climbing up ropes to reach higher levels and jumping across platforms to reach new areas. Exploring the world and attacking enemies with melee is done in third person mode.
While the majority of the game is played in third person, using long ranged weapons to attack with causes the game to move into first person. Players can use some level of stealth to sneak up on enemies if they wish and lure them into a better position; the player can also approach the enemy from the front. Enemies can be taken dead or alive in order to complete the bounty however live captives provide a much greater monetary reward; to capture an outlaw alive they must be stunned first.
There are also some RPG elements where the player can upgrade their weapons and armor to suit their playstyle.
