Nights: Journey of Dreams is an action game set in a world where human dreams exist in Nightopia and Nightmare; the evil ruler of the Nightmare world has begun stealing energy from the humans in a bid to take over Nightopia for his plan to conquer the world.
The game follows a “Nightmaren” named Night ,who rebelled against the evil ruler, as they fight to save the world alongside two human children. Both children have their own unique story which evolve separately, though they intertwine as they progress. The children are sucked into the evil plans of the Nightmare ruler and Night must fight to free them as they fight to protect the world of dreams and Earth.
It was released as a sequel to the 1996 “Nights into Dreams...” and also developed by the Sonic Team USA; the game was published by Sega in 2007 for the Nintendo Wii.
Most of the game is focused around gliding through the various worlds as Night; the player must pass through the different levels by completing different goals, passing through rings, gathering orbs and performing special maneuvers to collect points.
Some levels in the game are platforming based where the player controls the children instead; there are a large number of levels to complete with different characters. At the end of each level, the player is rewarded with a rank which determines what ending the player will see.
The Artificial Life feature from the first game is also featured in this game; it allows the player to capture inhabitants of the dream worlds and raise them in a new environment. It's possible to create a 'child' called a Mepian if a Nightopia inhabitant touches a Nightmaren. This world uses the Forecast Channel to adjust the weather conditions in this mode so that it reflects the real world.
Multiplayer is featured in the game with two modes; the Speed Mode can be played locally or online where the aim is to complete levels as fast as possible. The Battle mode is for PvP and can also be played locally.
 What's New
The biggest addition to the game is the new “Persona Mask” system; it allows Night to transform and provides him with new abilities that allow him to reach different areas or perform new maneuvers to complete each level.
