[edit] Background

Deep and immersive gaming is at the core of PlayStation's DNA, and the PS Vita is the latest embodiment of this vision. By having both Wi-Fi and 3G network connectivity, together with various applications, PS Vita will enable infinite possibilities for users to "encounter," "connect," "discover," "share" and "play" with friends wherever they are. Within the device are a range of features that provide a genuinely cutting-edge, next generation ultimate portable entertainment experience.

[edit] Features

User Interface: Front and rear touch pads allow players to interact with the games in three dimension-like ways through "touch, grab, trace, push, and pull" finger movements

Super Oval Design: Rounded design made to fit comfortably in players' hands

Dual Analog Sticks: For the first time on a handheld two analog sticks will allow a wider variety of games to be brought to the portable front

New Game Medium: NGP uses small flash memory cards to store games as well as any save data content and add-on game content the player may have downloaded

Live Area: Players can access information on recently played games, including activity logs and Trophy collections of recently met players

Near: Location-based service that makes use of the NGP's GPS module, comes pre-installed on each device that players can use to see what others in the vicinity are up to

PlayStation Suite: Cross platform framework that will bring PlayStation Suite content, including PSO Classics, to Android powered mobile devices
