First trailer of Battlefield Heroes
Kevin Spiess - Friday, February 29th, 2008 | 11:01AM (PT)

Casual, cartoony, free to play non-fps PC shooter from EA.

An amusing first trailer was released for the PC game Battlefield Heroes today. The game is coming out of EA-owned, Swedish developer Digital Illusion Interactive Entertainment (DICE).

Think Battlefield 1942 crossed with Team Fortress, with a casual-gamer twist. The game is going to be free to download and play (nice touch having Pirate Bay in the trailer!), and will generate income through micro-transactions (presumably for better equipment) and advertising. Looks like you'll be able to use vehicles, and that you'll have a persistent character that you can use, and customize.

The game is coming out sometime in the summer.

This game looks awesome . I wonder how they will finance the game though with a free to download, free to play model.

@Redemption
Either in game advertisements or something running in the background that collects personal data (as you agree to the EULA upon install). They've done it with Battlefield 2142, I can see them doing it again.
