Can't say I'm surprised. Can say this is awesome.
Bioware won a bunch of accolades for their latest space opera RPG, Mass Effect. Adding to Bioware's already impressive history of great roleplaying games like Neverwinter Nights, and Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect puts you in the shoes of Commander Shephard as he drives the SSV Normandy around the universe saving people, places and things from destruction.
Now PC gamers can embrace the universe. Most people suspected it was only a matter of time, like was the case with Jade Empire -- but now it's official: Mass Effect is planned for a May release.
The best thing about waiting for a PC port from Bioware is that they fix some of the small and annoying things that even the best games sometimes suffer from.
Here is a list of enhancements available in the upcoming release:
PC-centric controls (aiming with your mouse?), with customizable hotkeys
higher quality textures; PC version will be capable of higher resolutions
new decryption mini-game (for hacking turrets, etc.)
new GUI for the inventory system
Unfortunately, there was no mention in the press release about removing the long elevator rides I read about, or cutting back some of the driving (which also some critics complained about), but nonetheless, I'm sure many will be looking forward to May; myself included.
A member of the GameGrep community posted some screenshots from the PC versions over here. Thanks JelalTrueshot.
Brucelee-=> I have faith they'll be able to patch it up. They know the bugs thanks to the 360 release, and now they'll have some time to patch them! The bugs weren't so bad that they wouldn't be able to be fixed in a few months.
I'm thinking the PC version will be superior to the Xbox version.
But not that I've played the Xbox version, I should admit.
i don't know what the hell you guys are talking about, i never encountered any bug that wouldn't leave if i restarted the console...once when i presses the X to run faser, the camera would point at a certain direction and not change but when i closed the console it was fixed and it never happened again 'till now and if you get an error message or the console crashes then it's the 360's fault, not the game's...anyway i won't be able to play it 'cause it will demand over a gb of ram and a pretty good video card for sure, if it weren't for those two, i could play it...oh well i have it on the xbox anyway but i want to play the additional content too and since i don't have xbox live the only place is the pc...good thing to know it comes out in may though...I GOT IT!, okay i've got myself covered, i'll tell my cousin to buy it, yipee! MASS EFFECT ROCKS!
why would they? the guys are smart to choose the pc and 360 M$ must have struck another deal and did you honestly believe they wouldn't release it for the pc? the ps3 on the other hand is another story by releasing it to the pc they won't have to use blu-ray AND the profits will be higher it's logical but it wouldn't suprise me if they do release it, although that would be some time in winter or after 2009...IF they do...and why not? the game rocks!
Anyways, I think it'll be great for pc gamers to enjoy Mass Effect. It's a great title, and it's going to be even better for the pc. It might even have a lot of bonus content; the pc titles usually do.
