Obtains key next-gen soccer gaming franchises in key soccer territories

Looking to expand their appeal in the European gaming market, Microsoft confirms at the Leipzig Games Convention that both Electronic Arts' FIFA 07 and Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Winning Eleven 10 outside of Europe) will be exclusive releases for the Xbox 360 platform for one year after their official Europe launch dates. In other words, both games will not see release on next-gen gaming platforms aside from Microsoft's until late 2007, as FIFA 07 and PES6 are scheduled to ship in Europe this September and October, respectively.

Please note this announcement will not affect the release of editions for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS and PC platforms. Whether or not it proves to be a setback for Sony's PlayStation 3 (the only victim) in Europe on the other hand depends on how readily available the console ends up becoming after its November launch.
