Blizzard Bans World Of WarCraft Cheaters
Matt Horne - Friday, December 23rd, 2005 | 1:33PM (PST)

Blizzard has banned World Of Warcraft users for cheating

In an aggressive move to put a stop to cheating , Blizzard Entertainment has banned 18,000 accounts from its popular online multiplayer environment.

The accounts banned were due to users running third-party software in order to automate certain tasks like farming. Blizzard has said that this creates problems with the in-game economy and would affect the entire populace of World Of Warcraft.

Blizzard has also stated that it will continue to monitor problems of this kind in the future.

I imagine the people who just bought massive amounts of WoW money are happy, they can re-sell it for a huge profit.

Haha, stupid cheater wimps. They thought they could insult the hard work of others and ruin the game, well now they got what they deserved. The only thing that would be better would naming and shaming them so we can laugh at the freaks.

The economy on these games is truly intereting. NPR did a study on them. The other interesting fact of the 'in-game enconomy' is that it is purely supply and demand with very little outside enfluences.
