ATI X800GT's about to be released
William Henning - Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005 | 11:14AM (PST)

The release of ATI's mid-range X800GT is imminent

August 8th is one date that is being bandied about for release in Asia - but don't expect to see them in North America for at least a week or two after that. Initial production is likely to be for the Asian market.

Interestingly enough, two different GPU core's will bear the X800GT label - the R423 and the R480; but both will have eight pipes.

This might be one of the few times you might want to splurge for a 256Mb card - apparently the 128MB cards will run the GDDR3 memory at 250MHz, and the 256MB cards will run it at 490MHz!

The 128MB cards are likely to sell around the $150 mark.
