The bruhahah surrounding the "Hot Coffee" mod for the PC version Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has forced Take Two and Rockstar to ultimately change the rating for the game from "M" (Mature) to "AO" (Adults Only). Originally placing the blame for the saucy mini-game content the mod unlocks on the mod author, Rockstar finally admitted that they were the ones who left the content hidden in the original source code.

Rockstar has promised to release a "new" version of the game that will conform to the ESRB guidelines for an "M" rating, and ship "AO" rating stickers to retailers that still plan on selling the game as it is. That said, the publisher still stands to lose a bit of revenue, as many retailers like Best Buy and Circuit City are expected to pull the game from shelves until that new "M" version launches.

Many retailers sell "M" rated games, which "may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older," according to the rating board, but won't sell "AO"-labeled games at all.

Take-Two also said Wednesday that it expects to suffer financially. It lowered its expectations for its current quarter and fiscal year to set aside funds for returns of the games, and figured that net sales could decrease by more than $50 million during the quarter ending July 31.

Kind of rediculous for such lame rated R at most scenes. On the console versions where you actually have to buy the Action replay card in order to view these so called "erotic" scenes I highly doubt younge ones would do this(let alone figure this out) plus what are kids doing with M rated games? The children's parents should be the ones to blame in this situation for giving their kids these games, NOT the video game industry or anyone else involved.(the "great" American way of solving things: deny, deny, deny, and then start pointing fingers at everyone else)

On top of that, the entire ordeal is a waste of time, because kids are still going to get to play it in the end anyway; as Tweaker pointed out, parents are always willing to purchase adult rated games for little Tom and Jane, so this so called "victory" that I expect the US Senators are probably declaring, is short lived and means absolutely nothing to either Rockstar or their revenue.

First off Rockstar did not indulge that there were any of the stuff on the disc to Sony. Sony tends to stay away with stuff like that. Yes there should be a finger pointed. But Rockstar has blamed the finger on the hacker who discovered the black file. So whose really at fault. I tend to believe the hacker and firmly believe that Rockstar decieved the companies involved and yes that the government has a right to be involved due to the conspiracy that is now discovered. If it was brought out to begin with then it wouldn't have been an issue. But to find out later on and the game has been sold with the wrong rating. How do you honestly think that either parties would not be upset!? It's misconduct pure and simple. I sure as hell wouldn't my younger brother to play the game and my other brother who was planning to get the game is not going to at all. Because this is very inappoirate and if they want a sex ed. Get from mom and dad!
