Treading new waters in the increasingly-attractive Asian market
The Hindu writes that Microsoft is exploring the possibility of launching of their next Xbox video game console in India, though of course it's unclear at this point when in relation to the requisite North American launch this possible Indian introduction could take place. The big players in the console gaming market have always been considering the Asian market outside of Japan as untapped potential to further boost their market presence, so it shouldn't be too surprising that India would join other countries like China, Taiwan and Korea as new console territories to set foot into.
Of course, with a new market comes new obstacles so the article notes that Microsoft is doing their homework with the Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB) now to see how they can make an Xbox Next (or Xbox 2, or...) launch work in India:
"'The potential for PC games as well X-box in India is very huge spanning across homes, schools as well as enterprises. The current generation of X-box will not be available here but we are planning to roll out the next generation X-box Next in India,' Microsoft Home and Entertainment Division Regional Sales Director (Asia and Greater China) Yolanda Chan told newspersons here.Ms Chan said broadband penetration level was very low in India, which was a hindrance to introduction of X-box. Besides, inadequate channels for distribution and retailing were also not conducive to launch the gaming console in the country.
'The research to understand the Indian market size and consumer behaviour is underway and the findings will be reported in the next three months,' Microsoft India Manager Home and Entertainment Division Mohit Anand said.
"
this is just to know that microsoft x-box is launched in india or not if not is there a chance of them launching it and who will deal with the consoles in india
