Updated outlook for XGI's Volari lineup
Chinese hardware news wire GZeasy.com reports that SiS graphics chip subsidiary XGI Technology has plans for new additions to their Volari GPU family, including GPUs that support DirectX 9.1, and DirectX 10.0.
According to an X-bit Labs translation, XGI is first expected to release new versions of their Volari V8 and Volari V5 GPUs for the value and mainstream market segments that will support PCI Express 16x. These are currently known as the XG41 and XG42 (respectively?).
The DirectX 9.1 offerings mentioned earlier will be XG45 and XG46. XGI is expected to tape-out these GPUs by this March, and as a result both could be ready to ship to their partners by July or August.
Scheduled for 2005 is the mysterious "XG5x", likely a new series of DirectX 10.0-supporting solutions.
