New family of Socket T mainboards to cover a variety of market segments
By now you may be familiar with the previous news bytes covering on Intel's upcoming Grantsdale and Alderwood chipset offerings.
Now X-bit Labs has further information regarding the Socket T motherboards that Intel will release utilizing those chipsets. While the value/mid-range motherboards based on the Grantsdale family have been known for quite some time now (news), the article sheds new light on the Alderwood-based solutions.
These will be the ATX form factor Culver City, and the micro-ATX Black Canyon. Both motherboards target the high-end desktop market with support for PCI Express x16 graphics cards, Serial ATA RAID via its ICH6R south bridge, and up to 4GB DDR2 SDRAM memory clocked at up to 533MHz (PC2-4300 specification) thanks to the Alderwood's built-in "Turbo Mode" feature similiar to the 875P's (Canterwood) Performance Accelerating Technology (PAT).
