Nintendo to Launch Revamped Gaming Console in China
Leo Chan - Friday, September 26th, 2003 | 10:46AM (PT)

"iQue Player" supports SNES and Nintendo 64 games, plus downloadable content

GameSpot writes that Nintendo will be launching a new video game console designed specifically for China.  Dubbed the "iQue Player", this console supports games designed for Nintendo's older SNES (Super NES) and Nintendo 64 consoles, plus it features the ability to download further games for said platforms into storage media:

"The iQue Player, which has been developed specifically for the piracy-plagued Chinese market, will sell for around 498 yuan ($60) and will allow players to download games priced at just 48 yuan ($6) to a 64-megabyte flash-memory card at stores.

'We have targeted people in developed countries such as Japan, the US, and Europe with sophisticated machines,' said Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president. 'To reach a wide range of people in China, especially those inland who are not as rich as those in coastal areas, we thought we needed to deliver a cheaper console.'"

ique
they say they won't release it in america or europe because were "too rich" and we only get expensive consoles.......well it would be nice to have the ique anyway...loads of people like/love and still play retro games (and the snes pad is unconfortible) they should think about making a revamped snes pad and n64 pad for the vast amount of people who still play the old games because the snes pad especially isn't the most easy thing to hold (or even better make adapters that make the gamecube controller work with n64/snes so we can enjoy old games) anyway i don't understand why they can't release it over here anyway , they relesed the classic nes series on gameboy advance witch was successful so why not more retro games?
