More on Springdale, Canterwood replacements
The Inquirer learns more regarding Intel's upcoming Grantsdale chipset for their Prescott and Tejas Socket "T" CPUs, revealed
earlier. In addition to DDR II 400/533 memory support (with backwards compatibility for DDR 333/400 memory of course), the Grantsdale will also feature support for the new PCI Express serial interconnect technology (more info on PCI Express
here).
As reported earlier, there are three versions of the chipset planned: the GL, P, and G. Of these, the G version is most fully-featured, with integrated PCI-E graphics plus a discrete PCI-E interface for support graphics cards and solutions from various manufacturers. The P version meanwhile only has the interface, and the GL version only has support for the intergrated graphics part.
When the Grantsdale can be expected depends on how well Intel's Springdale chipset does, apparently. That particular chipset is due sometime this May (
