A new horde of screenshots for Jagged Alliance was released today. This Nintendo DS remake of the 1994 PC game Jagged Alliance is entering the advanced stages of development.
The game is due in 2009, but no exact date has been pinned down yet. Jagged Alliance pits you in charge of a group of mercenaries trying to take over the fictional Pacific island of Metavira.
The Jagged Alliance series has won many awards, fans, and sequels for being a good blend of a few different genres. For the most part, the game is focused on turn-based, squad-sized combat. On top of this, there is a larger strategy game of taking care and managing your mercenaries, and then on top of this, there is an added level of RPG depth as you level up and equip your militant dudes.
Each mercenary you can hire has a personality of their own. Some get along well together; some don't. Some are one-man armies and some are terrible. Getting the right group chemistry is key.
This remake looks very similar to the 15 year old original; but the layout of the user interface has been adjusted to better jive with the dual screen nature of the Nintendo DS.
