Second movie tie-in coming this year -- care for a peek?
2007's Michael Bay-directed Transformers did well enough in the theaters and reviews, enough to warrant a second installment this year, in any case. With that comes another plethora of video game tie-ins -- in contrast, these didn't do very well compared to the film last time 'round, but there's always hope for change, and the trailer and screens we have below do show potential.
Traveller's Tales (LEGO Batman/Star Wars, Super Monkey Ball Adventure) developed the last string of titles; this time we'll see Luxoflux (Kung Fu Panda, True Crime) try their hand at the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, with Beenox (Monsters vs. Aliens, Quantum of Solace) going for the PC and Krome (Lightsaber Duels, Hellboy, Viva Pinata, Spyro) for the Wii/PS2. Separate studios will take care of the handheld versions. The dissenters may already be looking down at Luxo for the Kung Fu Panda adaptation, but hey, that was a pretty good game, apparently.
"Activision has developed a Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game that will give gamers and fans a truly compelling way to experience TRANSFORMERS," said Mark Blecher, Hasbro's General Manager of Digital Gaming and Media. "The Activision team's passion for the property clearly shows in the character development, intense action and rich graphics that really deliver an immersive experience for the user."
(Note that Activision is publishing the game, so take that for what it's worth...)
In Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, you play as either the Autobots or the Decepticons; it's said the largest and most diverse array of characters yet will be yours for the choosing. Locations scouted include Cairo and Shanghai (who hasn't wanted to smash up Shanghai as a gigantic transformable robot?), and online multiplayer is planned, too.
The film releases June 26, so expect the game about that time also.
