Silent Hill: Homecoming -- censorship in Australia detailed
Folks may recall the news last week of Silent Hill: Homecoming being unbanned from Australia, due to some 'revisions' made to the game. Well, Atari -- the game's publisher in the region and the people that made the decision -- has come forth on what exactly has been changed; it's good to know what to expect in order to make an educated decision as to whether or not to purchase it once the game comes around: the European date was just set for February 27 on all platforms -- we'll wait to see what the Australian date is, if it's any different.
A spokesperson for Atari states:
“The major changes to the Australian release of Silent Hill Homecoming will be made to its cut scenes, where new camera angles and techniques will be used to reduce the impact of the unclassifiable material.
The company notes changes have “only been made to some scenes, while the original storyline remains unchanged.”
Interestingly, they noted neighbouring New Zealand will see the game with an R rating and without edits.
