CES brings release date
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has brought us some interesting bits of news this year, one the more exciting of which is the release date for the Windows 7 beta: tomorrow!
Technology columnist Rob Pegoraro has been blogging from the floor, and this is what he has brought:
[Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer] talking about Windows 7: "We are on track to deliver the best version of Windows 7 ever." Says it should boot faster, run longer on a charge and provide better multimedia capabilities. And today, he says, Microsoft is releasing the beta version of Windows 7 to its developers; on Friday, it will be available to anybody who wants to download a copy.
There's also notes about the corporation's Windows Live deal with Facebook (Live users can sync updates with it and vice-versa), an IM during the presentation from Yahoo founder Jerry Yang to Microsoft founder Bill Gates ("Why do you keep ignoring my friend request on Facebook?"), and an Xbox LIVE title called Kodu which lets players make and publish their own games. It is said to look like "a fairy-tale-ish version of SimCity with some really large glowing mushrooms."
I'm getting vista home premium with my new PC. I'm wondering if I could partition the HDD, and install this on a smaller partition, to try it out?
