The power draw is the issue for SSD with laptops. For desktops its great, just not a super piece for a laptop yet. Soon though.

Orly? But in any case, the more companies that release these drives on the market, the lower the price for the drives will plunge.

More competition = lower price.

SSD (Solid State Drive) HD's are different than mechanical HD's which are now into TB's.

SSD based on flash has a limited lifespan, so if you dont know please read about the more expensive SDRAM based SSD which is much more reliable

Where have you been the past decade?
Flash SSDs haven't had write endurance problems in.. like.. FOREVER. Do you know how many thousands of years you would have to be constantly writing to it at full speed to kill a 512GB module? HINT: many..
