New project, Secret World, also in the works
With all the great success surrounding Warhammer Online and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, we sometimes forget about Funcom's MMO.
Nevertheless, despite news in September of Age of Conan server mergers, Funcom is keeping the PC MMO their priority. But the Europoean company has stated that they will continue pushing the Xbox 360 version while still moving forward with their next MMO project, The Secret World.
"We had high expectations when we first set out to do a console version of Age of Conan, and these remain high," said Funcom CEO Arne Aas. "Even though Age of Conan is an MMO that is especially suited to the console platform, there is a lot of work to be done in terms of tailoring it for the Xbox 360 console. The Xbox 360 game will also contain most, if not all of the content and improvements that have been made to the PC version of the game."
Despite a significant worker lay-off and labor redistribution, Aas remains confident in the company's current course, especially their new MMO. However, expanding Age of Conan stands at the top of their to-do list, and Funcom hopes to launch the game in Russia and Poland soon before moving in on Asian markets.
"This is a very exciting project for us, and the team working on it has been able to draw on the innovations of Age of Conan for quite some time now – especially from a technological standpoint," he stated regarding Secret World. "The work with improving and expanding Age of Conan continues with relentless force, and we look forward to introducing a number of great updates in the months ahead."
