No matter what you choose to call it -- hacking or modding -- Valve obviously didn't approve of all the shenanigans going on in the 360 version of Left 4 Dead. As such, the team has released a patch to end such "cheating behavior."
Valve writes, "The fix is designed to halt the cheating behavior on the dedicated servers, which accounts for the majority of the co-op and Versus modes of play. A title update for those playing on user-hosted servers and/or via system link will be released in the coming days."
I have the PC version, so I've never encountered these hackers or modders myself. However, here's a video of some 360 Left 4 Dead craziness. Certainly warrants a "WTF!"
Hackers and cheaters are like Valve's Achilles Heel. Hackers totally ruined Counter Strike for me years ago... I hope the same doesn't happen to Left4Dead, but it probably will.
That guy who made the video mentions at the end he was getting a lot of hate mail from people saying he was "ruining" the game for everyone. Of course, he doesn't believe them. To him, it's all in good fun, and I think despite claiming that he kept the modding out of Versus games, I think he fails to understand how others might dislike his antics. Deniiiaaal...
Either way, he claims he no longer plays because L4D bores him.
That's the usual line from people who exploit the life out of games "This bores me, I no longer take pleasure in griefing these people"
The boring part about it all is that this cycle just keeps going and these lunkheads keep trolling around for the next game to exploit to death instead of actually playing it since you know that's just crazy talk, I mean who "plays" a game anyway these days.
The closest thing I found in L4D were those enabling the cheat console on their own dedicated servers to make the game more of a pain by adding in extra smokers, witches, hunters and so on to each level. so not cool.
I would hate to encounter someone who adds those sorts of hacks to a game to make it easy for them, but some of those mods might make for a cool game mode.
Like 'take down the giant zombie' and "You're a giant zombie, kill em all!", etc.

Man. Watching that video with that tune playing is a very relaxing experience.
