New Robo-Maid: Watch out Rosie!
William Henning - Monday, October 27th, 2008 | 12:07PM (PT)

Domestic robots are inevitable - Roomba was just the beginning.

Watch out Rosie, the new "Home Assistant Robot" is out for your job!

Toyota's walking & dancing Asimo may be more impressive, but "HAR" will be far more practical - and affordable.

HAR uses five cameras and six sensors to map your place, and has seven degree of freedom arms to manipulate the environment. As you can see from the pictures below, it can open/close doors, carry trays, sweep the floor and dust and much more - presumably it can also scold rugrats.

HAR will apparently run 30-60 minutes on a charge, and will apparently cost around $10,000.

"presumably it can also scold rugrats."

HAR: "Stop running in the house, inferior meat puppets! Clean your room immediately or face my LAZOR!"

Robo-maids probably won't take off until they perfect sexy french maid technology anyway.

Holy Shit!!! $10,000 for that robot, plus we have to pay electric bill for charging. I'd hire a cleaner for about $25 an hour to clean my house perfectly and systematically.

I wonder just how well it can clean....

Right now, that sort of bot is just for rich people showing off....

We need a much more cost effective one, that cleans better.

And then some more sexy XD

It's impossible for a non-intelligent robot to act outside of it's VERY specific programming. And some say it's impossible to make an artificial intelligence. So yeah, no need to be skeptical of mass murdering robots. I would love to get this thing and alter it's voice programming and what not. It would be FUN to tinker with this thing.
