Something to do while you're waiting for that 360 Slim
While rumours have been a-brewin' about an Xbox 360 Slim coming next year, some gamers may be interested in the meantime in this nugget of homegrown mod goodness: "coca627" has turned his original Xbox into an Xbox Slim, and it sure is purdy.
First, some photos:
Kinda seems like it has Wii-envy, no?
Now, the original console measured 12.5″(w) x 4″(h) x 10.5″(d), while this delicious mod measures in at just 10.2″(w) x 2.3″(h) x 9″(d), less than 60% as much! As well, it weighs less than half its former self, clocking in at 4 pounds, whilst before it was a chunky 8.5 in comparison.
More than just a size reduction though, this baby comes with quite a few goodies:
new DVD/CD-R slim combo drive
2.5'' 60GB hard drive
built in Wi-Fi
hidden receiver for a Logitech wireless controller
Iceberg4 Pro Chip Cooling fans
As well, it can run a bunch of applications, including the XBMC media center dashboard and (cough) some other things. Here's a video of the system in action:
Who wants to place bets he'll slim down the 360 before Microsoft does?
Pretty cools but anyway, Xbox games are discontinued by Microsoft and there is no point in playing Xbox games unless you are a genuine hardcore fan of Xbox (Original).
