MCV boss moves in
Special interest media group Future tells us today a new man is in town to head the Official Nintendo Magazine (ONM); ONM is essentially the British equivalent to North America's Nintendo Power (both are published by different chapters of Future).
Neil Long, now former editor of UK gaming website MCV (the "respected games trade bible"), will be taking over Chandra Nair's position as editor, who is going on to seek "new opportunities in the games industry and further develop his burgeoning music career", though he'll still be contributing to the mag and other Future projects.
Neil is a lifelong games enthusiast who got his break in the industry back in 2004, creating "fondly remembered" games retailer Special Reserve's website and bi-monthly magazine. Just that next year, he got a gig with MCV, and two more later was promoted to editor.
The man is set to bring fresh ideas to the publication and further develop its relationship with its readers and the trade.
“As we seek to continue the phenemonal growth of Official Nintendo Magazine I’m delighted to welcome Neil to our team," says ONM publisher Lee Nutter. "With a strong background in the games industry and experience at the helm of a successful trade title, I’m confident he will bring a fresh set of ideas to further develop the magazine.”
