TGS 2008: Publishers sign on with PlayStation Home Image 1

At its Tokyo Game Show press conference today, Sony announced that 24 game companies have agreed to produce content for the upcoming and highly anticipated PlayStation Home.

The companies on board will have Home collaboration events for their games, and Sony has revealed that both Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV will feature some kind of Home support.  There will even be in-Home character dolls for SF IV!

The list includes quite a few big names.  Here are the companies mentioned at the conference:

  • Irem Software Engineering
  • Activision
  • Acquire
  • Atlus
  • Walt Disney Japan
  • AQ Interactive
  • SNK Playmore
  • Capcom
  • Gung Ho Online Entertainment
  • Q Entertainment
  • Game Republic
  • Genki
  • Koei
  • Konami Digital Entertainment
  • Spike
  • Sega
  • D3 Publisher
  • Tecmo
  • Nippon Ichi Software
  • Paon
  • Hudson
  • Bandai Namco
  • Ubisoft

Incidentally, Square Enix is curiously absent.

Maybe Square Enix is too embarrassed by its increased association with Microsoft; it really hasn't given all that much attention towards Sony. It's as if Square Enix cheated on Sony with Microsoft, and doesn't want to show its face to Sony.
