Newegg Canada live
Kevin Spiess - Wednesday, October 1st, 2008 | 5:21PM (PT)

Great prices on eggs and more

Giant online tech retailer Newegg has now officially launched its Canadian website a few moments ago.

Arguably the second most popular website for hardware in the States, Newegg generally has consistently low prices, largely in part to the tremendous volume of business they do. Competition has definitely just gone up a big notch for big Canadian e-tailers, such as TigerDirect and NCIX.

More competition generally leads to lower prices -- so undoubtedly, Canadian hardware enthusiast can be happy to see this new Newegg site go live.

What's the biggest online hardware sellers in the U.S.?

Surely not TigerDirect?

Probably NewEgg, at least as far as parts go.

Good for me, I am Canadian, and I was thinking of building a computer around the Boxing Week period (after X-mas for those that don't have boxing week)....

From what I can see 2/3 of the hardware prices are higher than ncix. But they do carry much more other things that ncix does not. But until newegg gives more options for shipping I will not be supporting them. UPS is a garbage provider.

The reason why I asked is because:

"Arguably the second most popular website for hardware in the States, Newegg..."

So Kevin must think it's NOT Newegg?

Oh, didn't really notice that part.

I don't order hardware, and I don't live in the states....

But yeah, I can't think of any that are more popular than newegg. Again, unless he means hardeware in the broader sense (as in, pre-built computers. Dell basically).

Actually I got that whole 2nd thing from Newegg's own mailing to me. This is quote from the mailing, which I received last night : " * Second-largest online-only retailer in the US.
* Recipient of Shopper's Choice Award 5 years in a row (Computer Shopper Magazine 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)
* Named by Forbes in Best of the Web.

I'm glad they are here. Last Apevia Jupiter case I ordered from another big Canadian retailer that will rename nameless took a full 3.5 weeks to get delivered to me, which is sort of ridiculous.

Hmmm, very interesting kspiess.

I wonder how I can find out who is #1 then?

Amazon.com, perhaps?

I was thinking this too, but I don't see how it is a big seller of hardware (I know they are for general things). I am interested in whoever is #1 also.

Heh, doesn't "general things" include hardware? Rhetorical.
