Mirror's Edge and Dead Space bundles priced at $130 and $150

Gamers' wallets are about to take a beating

It seems that special premium bundles have made a comeback in the video game industry, and they are expensive as ever.

With Fallout 3's Survival Edition at $120-130 (depending on which platform you're buying for) and Gears of War 2 Lancer bundle at $149.99 (it's $10 less without the life-size Lancer), gamers who fancy themselves collectors are really stretching their wallets.  Well, Electronic Arts did not want to be outdone this fall, and the company has announced bundle packs for upcoming games Mirror's Edge and Dead Space.

The Mirror's Edge Runner's Bag Bundle for the Xbox 360 and PS3 is priced at $129.95 and throws in a limited edition bag by Timbuk2.  Apparently there's only a small quantity available, if that's any incenstive to spend $130.  EA DICE's Mirror Edge is expected to hit shelves this November 11, which is probably when you'll be seeing the bags.  Excellent design, and Timbuk2 has a good reputation for quality goods; I would consider it if the protagonist's face weren't plastered across the interior flap.

EA Redwood Shores' survival horror title Dead Space will have a Ultra Limited Edition upon release this October 14 for the Xbox 360.  Only 1,000 copies are available, so EA is hoping gamers take quick advantage.  PC gamers will have to wait until October 30.  Set at $149.95, this 360-exclusive bundle will include:

  • The Dead Space game
  • Special Ultra Limited Edition packaging
  • Dead Space Downfall Animated Movie (DVD)
  • Bonus content DVD
  • Exclusive lithograph art
  • 97-pg Dead Space art book written and illustrated by the development team
  • 160-pg Graphic novel
  • Ishimura crew patch

I like special edition sometimes, but nowadays, Game companies and publishers are making a lot of money from so-called "Special Edition" which is nothing more than an extra tin box, I'd rather choose an ordinary edition unless my wallet is thick with necessary notes, Hee Hee!!!

We can barely afford these games as it is! In October, I'm only picking one title (if I count Silent Hill 5 as being September), and using trade-ins to lessen the pain.
