LIVE poll shows Obama favored over McCain
Microsoft issued a recent press release with results from an Xbox LIVE presidential poll in which 100,000 users participated. Barack Obama appears to be enjoying a 12 percent lead over his opponent John McCain, with smaller percentages in the "unknown" categories.
The poll is not foolproof, and Microsoft acknowledges this; however, the partnership between XBL and Rock the Vote has certainly yielded interesting if not positive results. Rock the Vote and LIVE managed to draw out quite a turnout, and the press release notes the impressive show of political engagement in the LIVE community:
In its first two weeks of the program, more than 55,000 voter registration forms were downloaded through Xbox LIVE and xbox.com. Additionally, videos from the recent Democratic and Republican conventions were downloaded nearly 25,000 times. To-date, the Xbox LIVE community has downloaded more than 350,000 pieces of program-specific content, ranging from candidate gamerpics to videos and Rock the Vote logos. That’s nearly five times the amount of people present at Barack Obama’s acceptance speech during the Democratic Convention in Denver.
If you're still curious about the voting results for that XBL poll, here are the exact figures:
- Obama \ Biden: 43%
- McCain \ Palin: 31%
- Undecided: 13%
- Other: 13%
